    Q
What should the outside temperature be when applying Dominion 2L?
    A

You should not apply any termiticide, including Dominion when it is below freezing or when temperatures are above 80 degrees. We suggest treatment in the morning or late in the evening when rainfall is not expected the day of and the day following application.

    Q
Dosage seems low compared to Bayer Tree & Shrub.
Is there a reason the recommended dosage of Dominion 2L for whiteflies in a tree is roughly 1/4 to 1/2 the amount of Imidacloprid as compared to that in the recommended dosage of Bayer Tree & Shrub? Doing the math for the recommended dosage for whiteflies in a tree of .1 to .2 oz of Dominion 2L per inch diameter (at 21.4% potency) I get .0214 to .0428 oz of Imidacloprid per inch. Doing similar math for Bayer Tree & Shrub granular treatment recommended dosage, the actual Imidacloprid is .0767 oz of Imidacloprid per inch of diameter. (Detailed calculation: Bayer recommends 1/4 cup per inch of circumference which is 6.28 oz by volume per inch diameter which given each oz of the Bayer product by volume is about 1.11 oz by weight you get 6.97 oz by weight. At 1.1% potency I get the .0767 oz Imidacloprid per inch of diameter.) Don't get me wrong, if the lower recommended dosage of Dominion 2L works as well, then I'm happy, but I'd like to understand why the difference in recommended actual Imidacloprid dosage.
    A

Dominion 2L is a professional-grade product so has a higher percentage of active ingredient. The Bayer/Bio Advanced line is their consumer so it would not have a higher percentage available in this line. They have the Merit 2F for their pro line which Dominion is a generic version of. Granules require a higher percentage of active ingredient as they do not cover the entire area, granules are spaced on the ground in more concentrated amounts while a liquid that would be better able to get down into the soil for the roots to absorb and is more thoroughly applied over the area. Granule systems are really only good for shallow roots trees/shrubs as their feeder roots are closer to the surface.

    Q
Does hose-end sprayer work for treating trees?
I noticed that Dominion 2L is a little thicker than I expected. Will it work well with a hose-end sprayer such as the Ortho Dial N Spray or Chapin G390? (Is there one you think is best for this.?) Would it be wise to premix with some water to thin out the thickness? And, since I will be using only about 3.2 oz, I assume diluting it to better fill the reservoir would also work better with the hose-end sprayer (assuming I adjust the flow settings accordingly)?
    A
For a more accurate application of Dominion 2L Termiticide, and due to the thickness of the product, we recommend using a hand pump or backpack sprayer instead of a hose-end sprayer.

    Q
Why can't I use Dominion 2L to kill bag worms if they are eating the leaves off my tree first?
I don't understand why I can't use Dominion to L to kill bag worms if they are all eating all of the leaves off of my trees first before making their bag cocoon won't kill them before they get to make the bag if I put it on the tree systemically as a soil drench? My trees are very large so it's hard to spray the whole tree up to the top. A systemic method would be much easier for me to do.
    A
Unfortunately, Dominion 2L Termiticide is not labeled to control bagworms and there is no systemic labeled to help control bagworms. It is hard to treat taller trees but you would need to treat with an insecticide that can be sprayed, like Talstar P Professional Insecticide which is labeled to help control bagworms before they get into their bags.

    Q
What will be a good dose of Dominion 2l to use on house and potted plants?
Hello, I have a big collection of potted ornamental plants, mostly vining plants that are wrapped several times around themselves. I have been suffering from thrips and Mealybug for a while and I used every trick in the book, with no success. Most of my plants are in a greenhouse environment and the pests just grow too fast. One friend suggested Dominion 2 L . What will be the right dose to use to make sure I will make an impact on the pests and not allow them to develop resistance to the product?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is not labeled for use on potted plants. Bonide Systemic Insecticide Granules would be a better option.  This product will provide up to 8 weeks of control and has the same active ingredient as Dominion 2L.

    Q
How much Dominion 2L Termiticide does it take to cover a pre-treat of 5,000 square-foot?
    A

If you are seeking a pre-treat prior to concrete being poured, Dominion 2L Termiticide is applied at one gallon every 10 sq ft. Some of our customers also use a 5 gallon bucket and pour the 5 gallons over 50 square foot sections which will be much faster than using a hand pump sprayer which comes out slowly.  It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be.  Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas.  You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured.

    Q
If treating elm beetles, does Dominion 2L Termiticide need to be reapplied every year to elm trees?
    A

Dominion 2L would not work for elm bark beetles as it would not reach to the areas of the trees these beetles infest.  Effective treatment involves killing the beetles before they bore into bark in fall and when they first emerge in spring so protecting healthy trees is best. Timing is critical to reach the pests before they're under the protective bark.  You can use a product like Permethrin SFR for this.

    Q
Do you know the reasoning behind the manufacturer's product label stating Dominion 2L Termiticide is "Not approved for use in Louisiana for post-construction?"
I'm wondering if this is an EPA thing or if there's something about Louisiana that will cause it to be less effective. Or maybe even something else. I ask because I just had my annual termite renewal (in Louisiana) from a professional company and when I asked what they were using the tech said Dominion.
    A

In Louisiana you are limited due to the high water tables and constant risk of flooding from hurricanes and other weather patterns there is too much risk for most products such as Dominion 2L Termiticide to move and contaminate drinking water or water where aquatic life would be found. Phantom Termiticide is the lowest risk option

    Q
Can Dominion 2L Termiticide be used to treat for chili thrips on roses growing in pots that are 16-24
I read the answer you provided the gentleman with the Jade Tree in a pot. His question and your response were both helpful.
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide is not labeled for use in containerized plants at all, so it could not be applied to your roses in pots. You could use a granule such as Hi-Yield Systemic Granules for containerized plants. For a 16 inch pot, you would apply 1/2 C of granules and apply at the first sign of insect activity and at 8 week intervals during the growing season. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

Dominion 2L Termiticide is not labeled to treat for termites in your lawn, but you could consider treating your lawn and landscaped areas and around the exterior perimeter of your home with Talstar P, which is labeled for over 75 different insects, including swarming termites.

    Q
How Much Dominion for my Weeping Willow?
I lost the instructions but made notes on the plastic bottle. Sadly, I can't read all my notes. Once a year I mix 3.25 fl oz in 3 gallons of water.. (says my notes). The tree is about the thickness of a human thigh. My question is, I can't remember if I need to mix (1) 3-gallon buckets with Dominion? or (2) 3-gallon buckets. I think I've been mixing only (1) 3-gallon bucket and then adding 3 gallons of pure water on top of that... Advice?
    A

Based on the information you have given, the ratio should be (2) 3-gallon buckets of mixed Dominion 2L Termiticide. If you need any further reference, here is the product label with exact mixing instructions linked below.

    Q
Is Ddominion 2L good for beetles?
    A

Dominion 2L can be used for a variety of boring beetles in trees, but whether or not the product will impact the type of beetle you have will depend on the species. If you do not know what type of beetle species is boring into the trees on your property, you'd want to work with someone locally through a nursery or arborist to help ID what is damaging them to ensure the correct product and method of application is being used.
