Benefits of Lambda CyHalothrin in a Micro Encapsulation

    By Don on 10/14/2014

    Verified Purchase

Lambda-cyhalothrin is a very good chemical and I especially like it in a micro encapsulated formulation. I decided to switch to this chemical over four years ago for controlling Asian Ladybug Beetles, Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs, and Kudzu bugs. It has worked better than any other chemical we had been using up to that point. If this chemical continues to perform like I believe it will we will continue to use it. Originally we used another brand and based off of the claims from their cut sheet I had several questions and called the factory to speak with the plant chemists. The plant chemists answered the first two questions. When I asked about the longevity claims based off of their datasheet inquiring if their Polymer Encapsulation media contained an ultraviolet inhibitor to get that long of a life he started screaming about not revealing any proprietary information and slammed the phone down. It was an honest question and guess I got my answer. Spiders are always a problem even with spraying chemicals and webbing. Unless the chemical gets on the spiders body it does no good. The spiders just continue to walk through life on their stilt legs with no effect. Since this product is a micro encapsulated formulation we have started using it for spider control hoping that the spiders will bump into one of those millions of little landmines left behind after the water evaporates and get a dose of chemical helping to control their numbers. Having earned advanced degrees in both chemistry and business I look at the Pest Control products we use in the company from several viewpoints. Those include: the chemical makeup, effectiveness on targeted pests, toxicity to pets and people, and also cost/benefit. It is tough sometimes to separate the chemistry side from the business/service side. I hope this has been of benefit to you. Thank You, Don

    Great product

    By Joe on 07/31/2011

Seen multiple carpenter bees squirming on the ground the following day with minimal sightings on the structure. Left garage door open and that is the only place I have not sprayed yet and see activity. They are next. Now when I see an insect on any of my structures....Dead Bug Walking!

Q
Can Equil Lambda 9.7 CS be used in a thermal fogger? If not, is there a reason why?

My yard is 1.5 acres, abutted by forest on three sides. I'm looking to treat the tree line and my home borders with a fogger because of some significant brush and leafy/woody shrubs hosting wet areas underneath, and I think a fogger would permeate the dense material more effectively. But I've heard you maybe should not use this product with a thermal fogger. Is that true? Does it lose effectiveness, or does it present some other kind of risks (like aerosolizing too potent a hazardous chemical)?

A

Equil Lambda 9.7 CS is not labeled to be fogged. We do not know why the manufacturer did no test the product to be fogged. Keep in mind that generally fogging solutions cannot be used outdoors around homes & they do not leave a residual. They generally kill what is there in the moment & that's it. You would need to fog every time you see insects vs spraying leaves with Equil Lambda will have up to a 60-90 day residual

Only the applicator should be present during the application of Equil Lambda 9.7 CS. Everyone can return after proper ventilation and the treated areas are completely dry (couple of hours).

Q
Is Equil Lambda 9.7 CS a repellent? Can the bugs see it? Can it be used in a thermal fogger?
A

Equil Lambda 9.7 CS is not a true repellent meant to keep bugs away, bugs cannot see but can detect it and it cannot be used in a thermal fogger.  It is designed to provide a long residual to continue to kill insects that contact a treated surface.

Q
What setting would I use for a hose end sprayer with Equil Lambda?
A

Equil Lambda 9.7 CS can be used in a hose end sprayer as long as you can calibrate to the correct amount of product needed.  The rate for Equil Lambda depends on what you are treating for but is anywhere between 0.2 to 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water.  Please refer to the product label for complete instructions regarding the pest you are trying to treat for.

Q
Will Equil Lambda 9.7 CS work on German cockroaches?

I live in a row home and I am noticing these roaches in my kitchen since my neighbor moved out. I was told that these are nasty little buggers and that German cockroaches are different then other roaches in the sense that they are harder to kill. So will Equil Lambda 9.7 CS work?

A

Equil Lambda 9.7 CS is labeled for roaches. We would also recommend using an insect growth regulator, such as Gentrol IGR, and a bait gel, such as Maxforce FC Magnum, in conjunction with this product. Using just an insecticide alone will not take care of a roach infestation. Make sure you do not spray the bait because this will contaminate it and the roaches will not consume it.

Also, please check out our Roach Guide for information on how to get rid of roaches and prevent them as well.

Q
What is the best time to spray Equil Lambda 9.7 CS in my yard, day or night?

I just bought a Stihl SR 200 sprayer and a bottle of Equil Lambda. My yard is about 3/4 acre of grass and an inground pool area. The perimeter is all heavily wooded. When is the best time to spray? At night or in the day?

A

We advise to do any insecticide spray applications with the Equil Lambda 9.7 CS within the early morning or late evening during the cooling hours of the day so that the product can dry and settle into the area without affecting the chemicals in the product for the best result. You should avoid spraying in an area where the direct or overspray would contaminate the pool.

A

After applying Equil Lambda, we recommend that you properly ventilate and give it some time. Once the treated areas are dry and ventilated, any smells will eventually dissipate.
