Details

The Essentria D Dust is a versatile, minimum risk product that is exempt from Federal registration because it is made from natural botanical oils like rosemary, wintergreen and eugenol. All Essentria D Dust products are USDA National Organic Program compliant. The performance and application costs are comparable to conventional pesticides, and have a pleasant botanical fragrance. (fragrance usually dissipates within several hours of treatment). Dust will retain its effectiveness even when applied in damp areas.

Application:

Apply uniformly in and around areas where insects may be crawling, hiding, or living. The amount to be applied will vary depending on the severity of the problem and the site treated, but should be in the range of 1 to 2 ounces per 100 square feet of surface area. Applications should include, but are not limited to, cracks/crevices and void areas around and behind interior and exterior walls, cabinets, baseboards, moldings, pipe openings, electrical outlets, stairs, window and door frames and appliances. Repeat as necessary. Best applied with an hand duster. Apply to cracks, crevices, wall voids, and underneath appliances. Do not apply in or around ventilation, vents, or HVAC units. 1 lb of dust per 1,000 sq/ft of area. Apply every 6-12 months. (please read product label for complete instructions)

I live in central Fl. Am having problems with wolf spiders. I actually sprinkled the powder on baby ones and it did nothing. Still finding large ones in the garage also. The scent of the powder is a bit overwhelming also. Would not purchase again.

Essentria D Dust is labeled for spiders and other household pests. However, no insecticide dust will kill a spider or other pest on contact. Dusts make take several hours or even days to kill an individual pest; the tradeoff is that insecticide dust formulations are very stable and last for many months when applied in protected areas like wall voids. The only thing that worked on fleas!

This treated our carpets and our couches like magic. Left over night and vacuumed up later. Used in conjunction with doggie flea meds heavy duty, we were able to stem the tide. Would recommend wearing a mask/gloves.

Will Essentria D Dust work as well as Delta Dust & Drione Dust on brown recluse spiders?

Also, my exterminator mentioned that brown recluse spiders do not clean themselves, like other spiders, so how are powders effective on them? Thanks so much for your help!

Actually, unlike other insects, spiders in general do not groom themselves, it's not just the brown recluse. Powders can kill insects and spiders other ways than ingestion. Powders can also cut the outer layer on insects and spiders which makes them dehydrate because their waxy protective outer layer does not hold in moisture anymore. Also, when treating for spiders usually the spray and dust is applied more to get rid of the other insects around which is the spiders food source. If there are no other insects around for the spiders to eat, the spiders will not want to be around anymore. In addition to dust, we do have a Spider Control Kit which has a spray for the exterior of your home and glueboards for inside to monitor your insect situation. Glueboards are great for catching spiders.
