Established lawn weed control

Last years Maryland summer caused a lot of chickweed, dandelion and mainly crabgrass in a 2 ac. lawn I maintain. The Scott's weed & feeds just aren't doing the job. What do you have that I can apply via a tractor mounted sprayer. There is no irrigation in the lawn. I'm trying to do this a economical as possible and hopefully a single / early spring application. Thanks, MJD

Answer:

Resolute 65 WG is a highly effective pre-emergent that is also cost efficient. Resolute 65 WG (WG stands for Wettable Granule) is an effective pre-emergent herbicide for pre-emergent grass and broadleaf weed control that is in a granule form that is mixed with water and applied with a sprayer. Resolute is labeled to control chickweed as well as crabgrass. Prodiamine is flexible enough that it can be applied in both the spring and fall for season long crabgrass control. Weed control is most effective when Resolute 65WG is activated by at least 0.5 inch of rainfall within 14 days following your application. Please be sure to read the product label for complete mixing and use instructions. Dandelions will require a separate product, a post emergent. In order for a pre-emergent to be effective on dandelions, it must be applied in late winter. The pre-emergent will prevent the dandelion seeds from germinating and is only effective if used before the dandelion seeds have had a chance to germinate. If you do see dandelions growing after the application of your pre-emergent, then you can spot treat with a selective herbicide that is tolerable on your turf type.
