    Q
Will Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% kill wasps in a ground nest? If so, how do I apply?
I have dogs, and I am.looking for a safe product, would this one be the best? Should I keep them out of the backyard for a period of time after using this product?
    A

Yes, you can use Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% as it is labeled for wasps. You can puff the application into the nest using something like a B&G Bulb Duster 1150. The product is safe as long as it's used per the label. You do need to dust into the nest rather than just around the entrance of it.

    Q
Does Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% kill head lice?
My children have head lice, and I have been told to use Pyrethrin to rid the lice immediately. Is it safe on children's hair?
    A

Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% and any other product that we carry are not labeled for use on people for head lice. If head lice has been found on a person in the home or in the bed/environment, a physician and medicine/shampoos provided by them would need to be used to get rid of the lice. Vacuuming and washing sheets/clothing is needed for the home to remove any that may have come off of the infested person. Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Head Lice Guide for more information.

    Q
Can I use Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust in soil?
I have termites coming into the soil of my tomato plants and my tomatoes are ripening. They're killing off my plants one at a time and moving on. Can I use the dust in the soil without causing any harm to the plant?
    A

Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust is not for use for termite control or for use on edible gardens. Since termites will only feed on raw cellulosic materials, it is much more likely that something else is causing the decay of your tomato plants. If live termites are observed around edible plants, most customers will simply use some very hot or boiling water to kill the ones they see. You can also view our Termite Prevention Guide for information about how to protect your home from subterranean termites.

    Q
Does Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% kill brown recluse spiders?
    A

While the product label for Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% does not specifically list brown recluse spiders, this product is a non-selective insecticide and will kill and insects and similar pests that come into contact with enough of the active ingredient. Just keep in mind that dusts are not a knockdown kill. Our Spider Control Kit would be a great choice for additional products to control brown recluse and other spiders, as well as the insects that spiders will hunt. This kit includes Temprid SC, a residual insecticide concentrate; CB-80, an aerosol that kills pests on contact; and glue boards to help catch and monitor crawling pests. Please see our Spider Treatment Guide for more tips and information.

    Q
Will Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% kill and control Rover Ants?
I have Rover Ants that I haven't figured out where they are coming in from. I wanted to use Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% inside our walls.(Since i can't find where they are coming, in perhaps through weep holes into the walls?) Will it kill Rover Ants?
    A

Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% is labeled to kill ants so it would be a great idea to dust it inside the wall voids but it will only work if the ants come in contact with the product, so make sure that they are going into or coming out from the wall voids. You could also spray around the perimeter of your home to have them pick up the product from where ever they're coming in from.

We'd highly recommend checking out our Ant Control Page to learn how to do your own Inspection and how to treat for ants.

    Q
We are having a brown recluse infestation under beds and appliances. Will the evergreen effectively kill them?
    A
Evergreen Dust is not specifically labeled for spiders. We would recommend using Cimexa Dust. It is labeled for spiders and can be used under beds and appliances. You will use 2 oz. per 100 square feet for most applications.

    Q
Is Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% safe to use during pregnancy?
    A
The Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust is a very safe and all natural product, but like any other product or cleaning chemical you need to follow the instructions and use as directed.  The dust is meant to be applied in cracks and crevices, underneath appliances and inside wall voids.  If you apply it correctly and in these types of areas it will not be accessible for you, your pets or children to come in contact with but it will be in the places that bugs like to hide.  After 30 minutes have passed after you have applied the product it is perfectly safe to be back in the room that you treated.

    Q
Will Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust kill these horrific pests?
Last season, for the third year in a row, we were inundated with Japanese beetles. They have ruined my black choke berry bushes, the river birch trees, our maple trees and purple plum, not to mention my green beans, and several perennial flowers. And, of course, their grubs are ruining our once-beautiful lawn. I have used Sevin, but sparingly, and really would like an alternative that is more eco-friendly. Will Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust kill these horrific pests?
    A
We would actually not recommend Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust for japanese beetles.  The dust is really meant more for treatment indoors inside wall voids or cracks and crevices.  I would actually recommend two products.  One would be our Talstar P product, which is a concentrate you mix with water.  It is labeled for all lawn and ornamentals and can be applied to almost any plant, tree, or bush unless it is fruit bearing that you would eat.  It will provide at least 30 days of protection and it we have had very positive feedback from customers.  We would recommend Talstar P along with our Beetle Bagger Japanese Beetle Trap for further control.

    Q
    Do you sell pyrethrum dusters?
Many years ago Pyrethrum dust was sold in a small bellow-type paper product container approx. 4" long, egg-shaped, flat about 3/4" deep. Is it still available? My Mom always kept it on hand for bed bug control as they may be carried in by guests.
    A
I do not believe that product is available anymore.  I have not seen it for years and years.  Now the dust and the applicators are sold separately.  We recommend the Bellow Hand Duster for applying Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust.
