Neither ExciteR or Bonide Pyrethrin Garden Insect Spray are labeled for Spotted Lantern Flies therefore would not be recommended. ExciteR is also not labeled for use on edibles or in vegetable gardens.
Unfortunately, we do not carry a product specifically labeled to target spotted lantern flies on edible vegetation. We would recommend contacting your Master Gardener at your local cooperative extension office for a recommendationExciteR Insecticide is not specifically labeled for hornets but is labeled for wasps at the rate of 2.125 to 4.25 fl oz per gallon of water. Since ExciteR is a contact kill only pyrethrin insecticide, we would recommend adding ExciteR in the tank mix with a residual insecticide like Talstar P for combination of contact kill + residual. Tasltar P is mixed at 1 fl oz per gallon of water.
For ground hornets, drenching the soil where the nest is located is an effective method as well as using dusting the openings/holes where the colony enters and exits the nest. Tempo 1% Dust or Delta Dust would be the recommended product for dusting ground hornets/wasps/yellow jacket nests.
Permethrin SFR would be a great product to use around horses and other labeled livestock for flies, mosquitoes, and many other insects. It can last roughly 30 days with each application, and can be tank mixed with the Exciter insecticide for contact kill and knock down during application.
The same active ingredient that is in ExciteR Insecticide can be found in Shockwave. Both synergists would work the same, one is not better than the other.
