    Q
Approximately how long should you use a particular rodent bait before switching to another?
Rodents immune systems, over a period of time, gradually become resistant to rodent bait. Currently using Hawk bait with bromadiolone (for the past 6 years). What would be the best chemical types of bait to switch to?
    A

Rodent baits should be rotated every 4-6 months to prevent resistance.  Fastrac or Ditrac would be a good option to change to.

  • Asked by Jonathan from Greensboro

    Q
Is Fastrac All-Weather Blox the strongest rat poison?
    A

Fastrac All-Weather Blox is one of our most popular rodent baits for outdoor use. Fastrac Blox offers a lethal dose in a single feeding, with the first dead rodents appearing in one or two days after bait consumption. Fastrac must be used in a tamper resistant bait station outdoors to avoid accidental ingestion by non-target animals or children.

    Q
Is the Fastrac Blox effective on pack rats?
    A

You should place the Fastrac Blox inside of tamper resistant stations to secure the blox so that the rats can not carry them away to unsecured locations. Be sure to place plenty of stations out as this type of rat can be territorial and will stop other rats from visiting certain stations.

  • Asked by Duane from Omaha, Nebraska
    04/05/2013
    Q
I have voles in my garden and lawn. Will Fastrac Blox work on them?
I also have been told that Rodex or DCon has a product that is effective. I have quite a few tunnels so need help immediately.
    A
Voles have been removed from the labels of rodenticides by direction of the EPA. So while Fastrac will kill voles we cannot recommend you use the product for vole control. The only product that is recommended for vole control now is the old fashioned wooden mouse trap with the extended pedal. The trap can be placed directly in the run of the voles and really doesn't even need to be baited to capture the vole.

    Q
Can Fastrac Blox be used in apartments
behind stoves, frig, hidden in corners and closets
    A
We discourage the use of Fastrac Blox inside of structures. We recommend to use them in bait stations along the foundation of the structure. Behind stoves and other areas indoors we recommend to use snap or glue traps. Please see our Rodent Control page.

    Q
Which block bait kills mice the fastest?
    A

Fastrac Blox is the fastest working rodenticide that we carry. It kills rodents in about 12-48 hours. It is a single feed bait and is considered the top choice for rodent infestation cleanouts. Many folks choose Fastrac Blox because it is one of the few that can still be purchased in the smaller 4 lb pail.

    Q
If an owl parent brings one of your poisoned mice withFastrac All-Weather Blox to feed its owlets will they die?
    A

Rats that have eaten the Fastrac All-Weather Blox and then die are supposed to be removed and disposed of if they are found. Animals that eat exposed carcasses will usually have to eat many carcasses before they receive enough bait to have a reaction, but a secondary poisoning is possible. Terad3 Blox is a product that has a lower risk of secondary poisoning should a predatory animal eat a rat carcass.

  • Asked by Rick from Lutz

    Q
If Fastrac All-Weather Blox are starting mold after several weeks in the bait stations, are rodents still attracted to the bait or should the bait blox be replaced?
    A

It is recommended to replace any moldy or soggy bait blox in tamper resistant bait stations as the bait matrix is no longer palatable to rodents. It is suggested to replace uneaten or remaining rodent bait such as Fastrac All-Weather Blox Rodenticide atleast once a month to ensure fresh bait is being offered consistently.

  • Asked by Oscar from North Richland Hills, Texas
    03/15/2024
    Q
How long does Fastrac All-Weather Blox Rodenticide take to attract rats or mice?
Ordered three Protecta EVO Ambush Bait Stations and placed some Fastrac poison in them. I blocked off the hole I found that the rodents were using to get into my walls and attic. My question is how long does it take for the rodents to find the poison? Does it emit a smell to attract them?
    A

Fastrac All-Weather Blox contain food grade attractants in them. Rodents are attracted to the bait as they are looking for food. Fastrac requires the rodents to consume a lesser amount of bait compared to other products to acquire a lethal dose, and once consumed will kill the rodent within 24-48 hours. Be aware it can take time for rodents to get used to a new food source so may be a few weeks before they start to feed.  Be sure to limit any access to other food sources for best results.

    Q
Can rats build resistance to Fastrac All-Weather Blox Rodenticide?
I bought this poison blocks from you about 1 year ago... did a good job, but now I tried again and looks that they are eating this like cheese... will this have a expiration date? or rats are becoming more resistant?
    A

Fastrac All-Weather Blox Rodenticide isn't a bait that any rodent should be able to build up a resistance to due to how it affects the rodents body once it consumed it.  It is recommended to rotate baits every 4-6 months if you still need to treat to prevent bait aversion.  It honestly sounds like you have a much higher rodent population than you may realize, or you could have some alpha rodents eating more than is needed for a lethal dose, which means less bait for other rodents to consume, so replenishing has to happen for that reason as well. It is suggested that once you open a bucket of bait it should be used up within 1 year.
