    Q
Will this product be effective against grasshoppers on my hydrangeas?
I have a flower bed with shrubs, roses and hydrangeas, and the hydrangeas are getting eaten by grasshoppers.
    A
Ferti-Lome Azalea/Evergreen Food Plus with Systemic is not labeled to kill grasshoppers. We would recommend Bifen IT. It is a general insecticide that is labeled for various pests, grasshoppers included. It is safe to broadcast across your lawn, spray on ornamentals and flowers, and trees as well. It is not labeled to be sprayed on edibles. It can be used indoors and outdoors. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Another product that you could use is Cyonara Lawn and Garden Spray. It is attached to the water house and is RTS (ready to spray). It is labeled to be used outdoors only and cover 16000 sq. ft. of the lawn. Cyonara Lawn and Garden Spray can be used on lawns, yards, vegetable gardens, roses, flowers, trees and shrubs. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • Asked by Sammy from Tuscaloosa, Alabama
    05/23/2018
    Q
Will Ferti-Lome Azalea/Evergreen Food Plus with Systemic kill beneficial insects such as lacewings?
    A

The active ingredient in Ferti-Lome Azalea/Evergreen Food Plus with Systemic is Imidacloprid and has been shown to affect lacebugs when applied as a systemic application. For a low toxic method of treatment, it is recommended to use a contact kill or non-residual product such as Monterey Horticultural Oil. These insecticides have low toxicity to people and pets and relatively little adverse impact on the populations of pollinators and natural enemies and the benefits they provide. To reduce the risk of injurying pollinators, you should not apply to flowering blooms or when pollinators are in the area.
