    How's this compare with Bayer's BioAdvanced 12mon Tree/shrub formula?
    I'm looking for alternatives to the bayer bioadvanced 12mon solution, and I would like to know how this compares to it and if it's a good alternative?

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is not labeled for treating citrus trees. We do carry Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic Soil Drench. Please refer to the product label for more information on treating with the prodcut.

    Can I use Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench on my peach and cherry trees?
    If so, what are the application instructions for these fruit trees? And, if not, why is this product not for use on peach and cherry trees? And what similar product can be used?

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Drench is not specifically labeled for cherry and peach trees. However, we recommend contacting the manufacturer VPG 888-583-5296 to verify if you can use these products on those specific trees.

    Frequency of Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench application for emerald ash borer? Once or twice a year?
    Several of the Q&As mention twice a year application (fall and spring). The label states to not make more than one application per year, the single application preferably in the fall. Is the recommendation to control emerald ash borer to apply once or twice a year?

    Magnolia Scale
    Regarding "Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench" I have 3 Magnolia trees that have a severe magnolia scale problem. Each are about 15 inches circumference at the base of the trunk. Will this product kill the magnolia scale? And if so, how much will I need to apply. Thanks

    I have a hackberry tree which has been infested with NippleGall Psylids each year for several years.
    The infestation causes premature leaf drop through most of the summer months. Since the tree is rather large I would assume that a systemic insecticide is the best approach. Do you believe that the Systemic Insect Drench would help to resolve the problem. I am afraid it might be too late to save the foiliage this year since the galls are already begining to appear on some of the leaves. Any assistace you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks

    A systemic is definitely what you would need as foliar sprays only help when they are in certain stages on the hackberry tree. The sytemic product would normally take a couple of weeks to translocate all the way through the tree so a foliar spray may help in the mean time until the product works its way through the center. The Fertilome Systemic Drench would be a great option and will typically last for a full year in the tree. We highly suggest using it again before symptoms start to appear to prevent your trees damage the next year.

    Will Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench control Bagworms?
    I have a Weeping Bald Cypress that is covered in Bagworms. Will the systemic take care of them when they hatch?

    No, Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is not labeled for bagworms.

    It is important to start control methods before a major infestation occurs. Once the bagworms have matured and have formed the "bag" most chemical control methods will no longer work.

    You can manually control bagworms by simply plucking them off of the infested trees and dropping them into a bucket of soapy water or squishing them.  This control method is most useful during fall, winter and early spring, before the eggs inside the bag have hatched.

    Chemical control may be achieved when the larvae are small and just emerging from the over-wintering bag.  Use a concentrated liquid insecticide such as Orthene, Talstar or Tempo. Foliage should be thoroughly wetted with the insecticide spray in order to achieve thorough coverage.  When doing an insecticide treatment, timing is key. To find out the correct time of year to treat for bagworms in your region contact you local Cooperative Extension office. These offices can prove to be invaluable when treating for insect pests.

    I want to drench my gardenia tree and climbing rose bush. Both are in a bed of young newly planted pachysandra
    Will all be okay with the drench? Also, I'd like to do it now. Will this be a problem for the plants?

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench should be applied to trees and shrubs only. We do offer a product that can be applied to roses called Fertilome Rose & Flower Food 14-12-11 with Systemic Insecticide. It is absorbed through the root of the plant, feeding and protecting the entire plant from insects for 8 weeks.

    Trees: 1 oz. per inch of distance around trunk

    bark off trunk in 3 different place

    Although, once beetles have bored in Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench should still work as it will translocate up through the tree. It is hard to eradicate beetle borer after they have entered into the vein system of the tree. If there is already bark off in 3 places, it may be best to eradicate the tree, before infection spreads.

    No, Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench would not harm the hostas.  If it is applied in the area where their roots are, they will absorb the product and be protected as well.
