Weed Free Zone for Dandelions
By Daryl on 05/08/2011
I have been using this Fertilome Weed Free Zone on Dandelions for three years. I have been individually hand spraying them because they said not to use a broadcast sprayer. Applying it is in the spring and twice in September as instructed. I have more than when I started. I think it actually multiplies them. It does not appear to have any killing affect on dandelions at all. Very high cost for very poor performance. Recommend not wasting your money.

VERY Disappointed
By J. on 05/11/2015
I live in Oklahoma and have a lawn with more weeds than grass. Products from this site have saved my life several times so I did my research, and read great reviews for WFZ. I purchased some along with a Chapin hose end sprayer. I applied the product as directed and assumed I would see some results in a few days. Nothing, so I waited a week, nothing, so I waited for 10 days-it has been two weeks and the weeds are slightly lighter in color-thats it! I am on a budget and am very disappointed about the money I spent needlessly and quite baffled considering the reviews! Where do I go from here? BTW, I love the sprayer-reviews were spot on with it...
Expert response:
You may have weeds that are not covered under the Weed Free Zone. Also, if the weeds are not actively growing or are under stress from drought or extreme heat, it will take more time for the herbicide to be effective. If you have more undesirable than desirable plants, you can also use a non-selective herbicide such as RoundUp QuickPro to clear the entire area, and then reseed the lawn to start fresh: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/roundup-quikpro-15-oz-packs-p-1125.html

Didn't Kill One Weed
By C. on 03/01/2017
I followed the instructions exactly and even added spreader sticker but product failed to kill even one weed in my yard. Followed up two weeks later with a second application with the same results. Very disappointed given the money spent for this product and the spreader sticker, complete waste of money. I have St. Augustine grass, live in south Florida and applied product in Feb.
Expert response:
Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry that you have not seen the expected results from using the Weed Free Zone. Have you identified any of the specific weeds that you are targeting? Some plants will only respond to particular active ingredients applied at specific times of year. We would be happy to trouble shoot the plants you are targeting via email, live chat, or telephone at 866-581-7378.

Fertilities-lome Weed Free Zone
By Fred on 02/13/2021
I have enjoyed purchasing things from Domyown in the past , but this weed killer / controller did not work at all for me. I followed the instructions exactly. I even asked a lawn service person what I might need to do. He advised cutting my grass first then spraying. Still it did nothing to talk about. It did make a few of the leaves turn brown but that was the extent of it. At the moment I just don't know that to do so I will just keep my lawn cut short where it is not so noticeable. Thankyou for letting me express my review.

Disappointed
By Catherine on 04/02/2021
I had high hopes for the product. I purchased a new sprayer so I could follow the directions precisely and was excited to rid my lawn of weeds. None of my neighbors does anything in their yards, so I am fighting weeds constantly. The product did get rid of some of the dandelions but didn't make much of a dent in anything else. I'll keep looking for something that will help me in my battle of the weeds.

Fertilome Weed Free Vs. Wild Violets
By Robert on 06/12/2012
I've been battling Wild Violets for years with no success. I purchased this product because of it's different chemical makeup as compared to off the shelf products like Ortho which have no effect at all on violets. After one application the violets looked sick and showed some browning after a week, while other colonies showed no damage. I upped the dose by 1/2 once per gallon and hit them again, this time with better results but some yellowing of surrounding grass. I am encouraged so far and time will tell.

Weed Free Zone
By Larry on 08/15/2011
Weed Free Zone is the only product that I have found that will control wild violets in my grass. But, it does take more than one application especially on older, more mature plants. Of course it works great on the regular broad leaf weeds too. Don't forget to use a surfactant so that the product will wet the leaves.

it works!
By William on 05/26/2013
Put it on about 2 weeks ago and the weeds are gone. I have a 1 acre lot and 2 bottles were not enough--will order 3 next time. Fetilome Weed Free Zone is the best weed killer I have ever applied--will use it exclusively from now on. That said, it does not kill bermuda grass (a grass I think of as a weed) nor will it kill new weeds that are now sprouting from the ground--now I need a good pre-emergent for this fall

Works well but use during proper season
By Stefan on 09/28/2016
I had bought this in late Spring and didn't find the time to apply it until late June. I followed the directions and got zero results trying to eliminate creeping Charlie in my lawn After doing some further research I realized that this works best in Spring or Fall. I bought another bottle and applied in September and it worked much better. Killed about 60-70% of the area I treated. I will reapply in early Spring next year and hopefully kill off the rest

So far so good
By Paul on 05/14/2022
Product worked very well. I applied about 5 days after mowing to allow the weeds to grow. Then waited 2 days for the product to penetrate the plants roots. You can't mow to early after application I had a pretty bad infestation of clover and some other broadleaf weeds Will probably have to spot treat some of the weeds that the application didn't remove
