  • Asked by John from Abilene, Tx
    10/15/2016
    Q
Is Fusilade safe to use on milkweed (Asclepias spp)?
I am going to use this product with a surfactant to control small patches of bermuda (tiff 419) cropping up in raised beds of native milkweed (Asclepias speciosa, tuberosa, and eriocarpa). Is it safe around milkweed (I am assuming so since it is a flowering perennial)?. Thanks in advance.
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide does not list milkweed on the product label as a tolerable species to applications.  We recommend contacting Syngenta 866-796-4368 to confirm that Fusilade II could be used on it.

  • Asked by Thomas from Tamaqua, Pa
    12/30/2016
    Q
Can I use Fusilade II Herbicide over my established day lilies that have wild strawberries?
    A

You can use Fusilade II Herbicide for over-the-top applications to established daylilies, but Fusilade targets grassy weeds only and will not kill the wild strawberry. Products that will kill the wild strawberry could also potentially harm the daylilies, so you would need to make directed applications, taking care to avoid the desirable plants, or you can remove the strawberry by hand. You could use a non-selective such as RoundUp QuikPro or a broadleaf herbicide such as Fertilome Weed-Out with Trimec for this application, taking care to cover and/or avoid the lilies or other desirable flowers.

I can't find it anywhere on the label etc

  • Asked by Chuck from Tx
    08/11/2017
    Q
What is the ratio of Fusilade II Herbicide to water?
    A

Per the Fusilade II Herbicide product label, you will apply at the rate of 0.07-0.14 oz/1000 sq. ft. (3-6 oz./A) along with 0.25% v/v (1/2 pt./25 gals.) of a nonionic surfactant. Application should be made every 28 days when the grass weeds are actively growing. The higher rates may result in temporary discoloration of the desirable turf with recovery in 10-14 days. Do not apply to desirable turf which is under stress. For best results, make applications in spring and fall and avoid treatments during July and August.
Complete control of undesirable grass may take 1-2 growing seasons.

Keep in mind for herbicides the amount of water is not important. What is important is getting the correct amount of product, over the correct amount of area. Mark off 1000 sq/ft and fill your sprayer tank with only water. Spray as if you were covering the area with the herbicide. However many gallons it takes you to cover that area is how many gallons to mix the product with. Everyone's walking speed and how heavily they spray is different, which is why whether you use 2 gallons or 8 gallons of water to cover 1000 sq/ft, you are correct.

  • Asked by Corey from Brea, Ca
    01/04/2018
    Q
Can Fusilade II be used to help kill off common bermudagrass in a lawn prior to total turfgrass renovation?
I plan to make two or more broadcast applications of Fusilade II + a wetting agent to my current lawn mainly consisting of tall fescue and bermuda grass in order to kill off the bermuda. I want to make sure this is a intended purpose of this chemical. (Glyphosate will be applied separate to kill of the fescue.)
    A

Fusilade II is one product we carry that specifies that it will suppress Bermuda in tall fescue lawns. It also goes on to say that this type of application should not be made to home lawns, though. The best time to apply to fescue for suppression of bermudagrass is in spring just as the bermudagrass is sprouting green stems.  Monterey Turflon Ester Herbicide is another option that does not have the restriction for home lawns.  We want to be clear that bermuda can be suppressed, but it is VERY difficult to kill completely.  It will take multiple treatments to finally kill it. You must wait at least 14 days after applications of Fusilade to established turf areas before reseeding. For bare ground applications, wait at least 30 days.

    Q
What will kill Bermuda grass in my Zoysia?
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide can be used to get rid of Bermuda grass in Zoysia when used at reduced rates. You will also need to add a Non-Ionic Surfactant for best results. Please be advised that Bermuda grass is extremely difficult to control and you will likely need to make several applications.

  • Asked by Warren from Royse City, Tx
    06/11/2018
    Q
Can Fusillade II be applied over the top of non variegated ajuga?
    A

The product label for Fusilade II Herbicide specifies that it is safe to use for directed applications around Bugle Weed (Ajuga Variegata) or Variegated Ajuga (Ajuga reptans). Over-the-top applications may cause up to 20% phytotoxicity on these and other plants listed in Table 2. We would recommend testing around a few plants as directed treatment rather than over the top if you are spraying around plants not listed on the product label. This allows you to check for tolerance before treating a larger area.
