  • Asked by Harold from Bakersfield, Ca
    05/21/2015
    Q
I want kill Bermuda in el toro zoysia. Am I to apply more than once, and how long between applications?
The directions look to be a mix of 2.5 oz to 3.0 oz per acre and add a surfactant, but not sure of amount. Also, it is suggested to apply about June 1st. I live in Bakersfield, CA. Am I to apply more than once, and how long between applications?
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide can be used to remove Bermuda grass from zoysia grass when used at reduced rates. Applications should be made around June 1st per the product label.

Apply 0.07-0.14 oz/1000 sq. ft. (3-6 oz./A) along with 0.25% v/v (1/2 pt./25 gals.) of a nonionic surfactant. Application should be made every 28 days when the grass weeds are actively growing.

Keep in mind for herbicides the amount of water is not important. What is important is getting the correct amount of product, over the correct amount of area. Mark off 1000 sq/ft and fill your sprayer tank with only water. Spray as if you were covering the area with the herbicide. However many gallons it takes you to cover that area is how many gallons to mix the product with. Everyone's walking speed and how heavily they spray is different, which is why whether you use 2 gallons or 8 gallons of water to cover 1000 sq/ft, you are correct.

    Usage chart for spot treatments:

1 gallon water  +   .75 fl oz of Fusilade  +   .5 oz surfactant

    10 gallons water   +   6.5 fl oz Fusilade   +   3 oz surfactant

    25 gallons water   +   1 pint Fusilade  +   .5 pint surfactant

    50 gallon water   +    1 qt Fusilade   +   1 pint surfactant

    Q
Is Fusilade II safe to use on a buffalo grass lawn?
Will this kill buffalo grass? I want to kill the bermuda grass in our buffalo grass lawn. I also need to get rid of crabgrass.
    A
Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to be used on buffalo grass. We would recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see what you can use in your buffalograss to kill bermudagrass. Most of the products that we carry can be used on both types of turf so this will not be helpful to you.

    Q
Is it safe to spray fusillade ll on top of drought tolerant plants like dymondia margaretae and senecio?
    A
Fusilade II Herbicide could discolor or suppress Dymondia. We would not recommend to apply it over Dymondia. Depending on what you are treating for, you would want to hand pick or spot treat with Round Up.

  • Asked by Bob from Chattanooga, Tn

    Q
Will Fusilade II kill bittercress, a weed blooming with 0.5 inch white crosses, now. It's raging in my fescue
My only I.D. of this weed is a single web photo at www.virginiagreenlawncare.com -- labeled "Bittercress". I'm in Chattanooga, TN. I sprayed it with Fertilome Weed Out with Q 3 weeks ago -- ineffective. It's raging in my fescue.
    A
Fusillade II is not labeled for bittercress. We would recommend using Dismiss Turf Herbicide. It is safe to use in fescue grass for bittercress. The application rate is .092-0.275 fl. oz. per 1000 square feet. This will generally be used in about a gallon of water.

  • Asked by Jack from Mobile, Alabama
    06/28/2015
    Q
Is Fusilade II safe for chicory and clover?
I have planted a chicory and clover patch for deer season on april 26. On June 27 I notice lots of grassy weeds. Of which none I could identify. I mixed the fusillade at .7 oz per gallon and used dawn dishwashing liquid for my surfactant. About how long does it take for the fusillade to start killing weeds. And does it have a residual effect? Thanks
    A
Fusillade II is only safe to be used over pink clover. It is not safe to be used over chickory. Also, Fusillade II does not have a grazing label so animals should not eat any items that the product has been sprayed over.

I want to kill weeds in a liriopi bed. What mix ratio of Fusilade should I use ( i.e. how much fusilade to add per gallon of water)?
    A
You will use 0.4 - 0.6 per 1,000 sq. ft. of Fusillade II Herbicide in at least a gallon of water. It is important to use the correct amount of product versus the amount of water. A gallon will generally treat 1000 square feet. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
