didn't work for me
By Cheryl on 10/19/2015
I had great hopes that the rodent guard would do the trick. However, my problem was installing the metal guards around the vinyl garage door seal. I could not get the guard to hold on to the seal. I used pliers and tried to close the grip but it kept falling off. I did get one to stay but am not sure how long that will last.

Doesn't fit the garage door trim
By Frank on 02/10/2019
The guard is too narrow for the trim, There is still a gap in my trim next to the rodent guard. The material is very thin and difficult to crimp without denting it. After crimping, the upper edge is not flush with the trim. It's a waste of money

Waste of money
By Randall on 12/10/2019
Bought two sets (2 garage doors). Watched instructional video twice to make sure I was following. Handy wipes were dry, tape not sticky enough, one of the metal guards has already fallen off after one week. Don't waste your money.

Rodent Guard
By John on 05/17/2020
Your "Rodent Guard" was a complete failure. The design is too short. The rat or squirrel just stood up and chewed away the door seal above your guard. FOr my effort I now have replace s second door seal. Yourclever device isn't long enough. Very disappointed.

Flimsy
By Tony on 08/12/2022
Not worth the money. I followed the instructions and one side came off. This product is not what I expected, its much weaker than what is advertised. I ended up replacing it with a metal corner bead from H.D. Cost me a few dollars less and works great.

Mice bit and made a hole on the metal
By Veronica on 12/15/2017
Installation was easy but mice bit the metal guard made a hole on it and continued to come in.
Expert response:
Thank you for your review. We apologize you have had this experience. We have contacted the manufacturer and their response was that to their knowledge or experience they have not come across a metal eating mouse yet, but stranger things have happened. They would like to have a picture of the critter and the damaged Rodent guard if at all possible. If you would like to have another door sent to you as a replacement we would be more than happy to send you one for free. If you have any other questions please let us know by emailing in return or by giving us a call at 866-581-7378.

Rodent guard
By Robin on 11/11/2018
Got for garage door hoping to keep out rodents they are still getting in . We emptied out garage and cleaned and had traps set to make sure all gone before these were placed on. Still getting mice in luckily we bought traps also. Other wish is they offered these taller (maybe would work better) and in black so don't stand out and you have to paint .

Garage Door Rodent Guard
By Debbie on 05/10/2019
The tape will not hold up very well for long. The price should be lower. If I had known what they were like, I would have gone to Lowe's and bought something similar to metal flashing and made my own rodent guard for the bottom corners of the outside of my garage door.

Garage door seal
By Michael on 08/23/2023
It installs easy. However the metal part pulls the rubber seal above it away from the garage door. It creates a space that other insects and spiders can enter. I tried putting adhesive foam strips on the gaps that these metal strips create. But there is really no fix. It is amazing how much these stop the seal from making contact with the garage door. Yes I still get mice in my garage from squeezing in above these metal strips. I have also caulked the bottom of these metal strips tight at the bottom where it meets the concrete. Still no fix on closing the gap above these.

Attachment to the weather strip is not secure at all. It is held in place by the tape at the top. It is in place now, but when the tape get a little age on it, I suspect that it will fall off. (Also, the bright white color stand out like a sore thumb!) When it falls off, I'll "DO MY OWN" from scratch!

Garage Door
By David on 09/11/2020
The metal guard is terrific BUT the tape is a pain. Could use an extra piece if one doesn't lay right. One of the wipes was all dried out and couldn't clean the rubber door gasket. Fortunately, in this time of pandemic, I have plenty of alcohol wipes. The install looks very good on one side , the other not so good.

Not one-size-fits-all
By Katherine on 09/21/2020
Unfortunately, this product is not "one size fits all." I think it's probably a decent product but check your dimensions against the dimensions of the product. I understood it as being malleable in order to fit my garage opening but it was difficult to adjust even with plier.

Guards Easy to Install

product arrived quickly and seems to work!
By Tsr on 11/26/2016
So far so good! I knew I needed something as I watched a garter snake crawl into my garage. Thanks for the quick service and the demo video. I painted the guard to match the trim of my garage door. I would recommend putting double stick tape on the back of the guard rather than tape on the top, for an overall neater look.

Its easier than building your own.
By Greg on 12/20/2019
The installation is pretty straightforward. However, there will be a split where the guard and the trim meet. Not all the way, just the length of the chewed away area. Seems like a mouse might be able to push his (or her) way through. I reinforced mine with some white duct tape and it seems to work fine. Of course, the gophers are hibernating now and the mice might have found a different entry. But my wife is happy. One more thing, don't pay for handling or delivery. These things just slip into a cushioned envelope and get thrown in the mailbox. Do My Own charged me nothing and shipped them immediately.
