    Q
Is Gentrol the appropriate pesticide to use on fungus gnats?
    A
Gentrol IGR is not labeled to treat fungus gnats. We do carry Bonide Systemic Insecticide Granules.

Preventing fungus gnats from entering your home is quite simple once you know how. Inspect all new house plants before bringing into your home. Always use sterile potting material. Do not over water plants. Inspect any plant that was taken outside and brought back in. Discard heavily infested plants.Identify and repair any water leaks as soon as possible.

If you have fungus gnats present in your home there are several steps you may take to get rid of them. First you must find the source of the gnats. Inspect all house plants for infestation by placing insect glue board traps above the plant to monitor for adult activity. If activity is present you may let the soil dry out and this may effectively kill all the larvae or remove the plant from your home. Plants may also be treated with Bifen IT to get rid of larvae and adults. Plants should be moved outside prior to treatment and allowed to fully dry before bringing back indoors. If plants do not seem to be the source of infestation search for water leaks or damage from water leaks. These areas must be repaired and properly cleaned to stop the breeding cycle and eliminate the population that is infesting your home.

To get rid of adult fungus gnats flying around your home use an aerosol product like CB-80 Extra or Microcare. Both of these products offer a fast knock down and kill of flying insects and Microcare offers a long lasting residual as well.

  • Asked by Mark from San Diego Ca

    Q
Is Gentrol IGR Concentrate good for bedbugs. and if so what is the water to concentrate ratio?
    A
There simply has not been enough time since the outbreak of bedbugs for proper studies to be done on the long term effect of Gentrol on bedbugs. There have been no studies published that support Gentrol IGR Concentrate   making bedbug infestations worse and we have not had any reports to that effect either. Once Gentrol has been applied, it will be effective for bedbugs for about 2-4 weeks. We do not have Gentrol in our kits at this time because we feel that your money can be better spent on products that we know for sure will work. - See more at: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/gentrol-igr-concentrate-p-211.html?keywords=bed+bugs&search_for=questions#questions

  • Asked by Daniel from Mcallen, Tx
    04/04/2016
    Q
Can I use Gentrol IGR in the Fog RX Propane Fogger?
What do I need to use to make Gentrol work with this fogger and make the fog? Can I mix Gentrol with water and put it on the little tank of the Fog RX Propane? Would it work?
    A

Per the product label for fogging Gentrol IGR:  Fogging applications are best for larger facilities including warehouses (Refer to Warehouses section below).  It would not be recommended to use Gentrol in the Fog RX Propane Fogger as it is more suited for small up-close fogging applications.  If you wish to treat a home using Gentrol IGR it would be better to use a standard pump sprayer and mix with water.

  • Asked by Linda from Santa Ana, Ca
    03/21/2017
    Q
Will Gentrol IGR get rid of drain flies?
We had a leak under our raised foundation which was fixed 3/1/17. The water had seeped quite far. We still have drain flies even though the rain has stopped and it has warmed up. They are even in our bathroom. I am killing 5-6 nightly. Will they ever go away?
    A

Gentrol IGR Concentrate is an insect growth regulator not an insecticide.  This product is used to stop the reproduction cycle of insects.  It will not kill the insects.  Gentrol can be used in conjunction with an insecticide to treat an infestation.  If treating for drain flies we would suggest you use our Drain Fly Kit to get the best results.

  • Asked by Sean from Montvale, Nj
    01/05/2019
    Q
Does Gentrol work for carpet beetles?
    A

Yes, the label states that you should spray once a month for best results. It is also very important that the source of the infestation (where the damaging larva is harboring) is discovered and eliminated, not just the visible adult insects you see wandering around. Until you find out what that is and deal with it you will continue to get more of the carpetbeetles emerging from hiding. Carpet beetles may be as likely to feed on grain based food materials as they are on animal byproducts. Pet foods stored in forgotten places, baking goods left too long in the cupboard, rodent baits tossed in the attic - all of these are quite susceptible to carpet beetle feeding. Plus, you also have the typical carpetbeetle diets of dead insects (wasp nests in the attic, dead insects in window sills), feathers (bird nests, dead birds), hair (dead rodents, wool products, trophy mounts), and other things made from animal byproducts. Once the source of the infestation is removed or cleaned, use Suspend SC and Gentrol IGR once a month until all of the beetles are gone.
