  • Asked by Robert from Wichita, Ks

    Q
Does Gentrol IGR work on bedbugs or not?
I was wanting to know due to one of your answers regarding gentrol not being in your bedbug kits because you would rather see customers money spent on products that are effective.
    A

The Gentrol IGR is the only birth control that has been shown to actually work on bed bugs, however since is not 100% guaranteed to work every single time in every home we do not state you must purchase it but instead leave it up to the customers discretion on whether they would like to use or not.

  • Asked by Valeria from Athens
    07/21/2016
    Q
How long does Gentrol IGR concentrate keep it's potency?
If I purchase a 16 oz bottle of IGR concentrate & use 1 oz every four months, the last of the concentrate will have been stored for 5 years before use. Is it reasonable to expect the concentrate to still be potent this long?
    A

Gentrol IGR Concentrate has a shelf life of about 3-5 years if kept out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.  It can be applied more often then ever 4 months depending on the pest you are trying to control so it should still be effective in that time.

  • Asked by Vaughn from Fresno
    08/05/2016
    Q
I want to mix Gentrol and Demon WP; how much of each do I mix?
I want to mix Gentrol and Demon WP how much do I use each in a sprayer
    A

The mixing ratio for Demon WP is one to two packets per gallon of water. The mixing ratio for Gentrol IGR is 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. You will fill the tank up halfway, put the products in, fill the tank up the rest of the way and agitate. Be sure not to leave chemicals inside your sprayer for more than 24 hours because it will decrease the effectiveness of the product.

  • Asked by Ivy from Santa Clarita, Ca
    08/09/2016
    Q
What is the reason why we need to use the mixed Gentrol solution within 48 hours?
Will the chemical not work any more after 48 hours in the sprayer?
    A

Gentrol (along with most other liquid concentrates) should be used or discarded within 24-48 hours at most after mixing.  This is because the active ingredient will start to break down after this point and cause the solution to become less effective.

  • Asked by Sylvia from Stillwater

    Q
Will Gentrol IGR work with Advion roach gel bait?
I have a severe German Roach infestation. I've been researching Albion, and it looks very promising. I'm just wondering if it would make a difference if I used them together.
    A

Gentrol IGR would be an excellent option for use with Advion Roach Bait Gel. Remember that Gentrol IGR is just a growth regulator so it is very important to use an insecticide with this product as well, such as Temprid SC. The insecticide will kill the insects that come in contact with it. The Gentrol IGR will act as a birth control for the roaches. Advion Roach Bait Gel will be used inside of cabinets and drawers where you cannot spray. Be sure not to spray the bait because it will contaminate it and the roaches will not consume it.

Please check out our Roach Guide for tips on how to treat and prevent roaches.

    Q
Does Gentrol IGR Concentrate kill spiders?
    A

Gentrol IGR Concentrate is an insect growth regulator.  It is not an insecticide and does not kill insects or spiders.  This product prohibits insects from being able to reproduce, but is not labeled for spiders.  We recommend using Onslaught FastCap for spider control.

  • Asked by Maria from Chicago
    11/08/2016
    Q
What other chemical can be used together with Gentrol to get rid of bedbugs?
    A

We would recommend one of our Bed Bug Control kits.  Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms you need to treat. You can see the kits by clicking on the link hereGentrol IGR is the only birth control that has been shown to work on bed bugs.  However, it is not 100% guaranteed to work every single time in every home. With that lack of 100%, we do not include it in any of the bed bug kits but do give it to you as an option to purchase separately as an option to increase your effectiveness of control.

  • Asked by Scott from Eustis, Fl
    11/29/2016
    Q
Can Gentrol IGR be sprayed around roach bait gel?
    A

Gentrol IGR is not recommended to applied directly to areas where roach bait gel is present. Please keep in mind that Gentrol spreads out from its point of application. This means that the roach does not have to come in direct contact with the Gentrol in order for it to work.

  • Asked by Danielle from Houma La

    Q
Can this Gentrol IGR be mixed with Fenva star EcoCap
It seems as we are at a never ending battle of bed bugs. We have not seen any in 2 months. Then, "bam" we saw 2 on ceiling and one on a book sitting on kitchen table.. I am so exhausted... Please help..
    A

Gentrol IGR can be mixed with any insecticide. It is the only birth control that has been shown to work on bed bugs, however it is not 100% guaranteed to work every single time in every home.  Sprays alone are not enough to eliminate bed bugs though as they cannot be used in all the areas that you need to treat for bed bugs.  We have a great guide here that explains all of the necessary products and application.

  • Asked by Sheryl from Marysville, Oh
    01/12/2017
    Q
What IGR do you recommend for springtail that are indoors?
    A

Spring tails can be tough to eliminate because they reproduce very quickly.  There are no IGR's that are labeled for springtails.  In almost every case where people have spring tails they also have a moisture problem such as a leaking or sweating pipe, poor ventilation in their crawl space, lots of wet mulch right up next to their house, etc. You must locate and correct the moisture problem to get rid of the spring tails, insecticides alone will not do the job.

    Q
How does Gentrol work in a drain?
I see this says it will work against drain flies.
    A

Apply Gentrol IGR to areas of fly breeding. For drains, apply product into and around the downspout and catch basin area. Coat these areas thoroughly as fly larvae develop in the scum buildup on the side of drain pipes.Repeat applications at 2 to 4 week intervals depending upon the severity of infestation. • Asked by Tommy from Indianapolis, In
    02/26/2017
    Q
Is Gentrol IGR safe around kids?
I just bought this product along with some point source for bed bugs, I intend to use the spray for the beds and furniture but is it ok to spray the beds the kids sleep on? And if so, how long should I wait before the kids can be in contact with the treated furniture and beds?
    A

Gentrol IGR should be applied to interior cracks and crevices when the children are not present. Once the treated surfaces are completely dry then they can return.Gentrol Point Source Stations are labeled for roaches and stored pests and not bedbugs. Gentrol should not be the only product used to eradicate bedbugs and it should not be applied to areas of furniture that will have future skin contact. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article and videos on How to Get Rid of Bedbugs for a successful bedbug eradication program.
