    Works great!

    By Anthony on 07/13/2018

Used this product to kill grasses in our Vinca Minor (Periwinkle) Ivy bed during mid-June NW Ohio, and in about 10 days the grasses were turning yellow and brown. Used Dawn dishwashing detergent as a surficant and gave them another shot on day 11. I would definitely buy again!

    Grass Out

    By Warren on 08/13/2018

It does eliminate the grass, but you have to be patient. It works better if you add a teaspoon of dish detergent per gallon of mix. The plus is that you can mix your own- much cheaper than Grass-Be-Gone.

    Works Incredibly Highly Recommend

    By D.murphy on 06/23/2023

I could not keep up with grasses growing in my vegetable garden, especially difficult around my onions and garlic. I used Grass Out Max with 1 oz per gallon of water in a pump up sprayer with some surfactant and total kill of ALL grasses with no harm to vegetables. I'm a true believer.

    Effective on grasses

    By Josh on 06/21/2024

Use to kill grass in my sunflower patch. Mixed at 0.5 oz per gallon. Light spray not soaking. Killed the grass with minimal burning or setback to the sunflowers. They were about 1’ tall at the time.

Works like a charm in my garden beds

    By Lainey on 08/15/2024

I was going through Ortho Grass B Gon like water, spraying every few weeks to eliminate all the grass growing in my garden beds where it was impossible to weed without digging up perennials and ground cover. One spray with Grass Out Max and almost all the grass is dead with no signs of coming back after 6 weeks. I"ll have to spot treat a few areas where I either missed or it didn't get enough product the first time. Also, based on label warnings, I was expecting my periwinkle to be a little damaged from the spraying. But, it was not.

Exactly what I was looking for

    By J on 09/08/2020

The product worked great. I used it on my food plots which had a lot of foxtail, among other unwanted grasses. After 1 week, I could see that some grasses were starting to die off, but not all, so I sprayed a second time. I probably could have been more patient, but I wanted to make sure I hit everything. 2 weeks after the first application, I really noticed the results. I bought this with the surfactant, as suggested, and I was really pleased.

    it works!!

    By Roy on 09/15/2021

tried this product on my fairly new strawberry bed. Used sparingly just in case. After several days I began to think id skimped a bit much on the mix. a few days later I begin to see the big grass yellow....and several days after pretty much all yellow........as in goodbye grass and hadn't bothered the berry plants at all......Time to hit it again full strength!!! If there's a downside I'd say the mix ratio should be more obvious for the home gardeners...it's very clear for those who are spraying on a large scale Also more appropriate size for the gardener...... I've enough now to last me for a loooooong time......hope there's no expiration date :(

Pretty much does as it should. Fast service.

    By Pam on 09/24/2021

I gave it a 4 star as it is slow but my grass is way over the recommended height. That said, I didn't want to use roundup around my ornamentals to clean out the beds from grass as it will kill everything. I purchased to get rid of grasses and not kill my large clover patches. I seem to be growing quite a crop of crabgrass — could harvest and sell it. ????. Need to start early next year. If you aren't using around ornamentals — use it with MSO as directed. I used a non ionic surfactant as recommended by manufacturer for use around ornamentals and beds of plants, etc. and without killing my clover used as ground cover in vegetable garden. . The disease the manufacturer - actually got to talk to the owner - was the Grass Out at 1/2 Oz per gallon amd the surfactant per its label. Please be careful that the perennials, annuals, etc you are spraying around are not part of the grass family. It will kill anything grass. It does not kill broadleaf weeds which is why it doesn't kill ornamentals etc. I have every grass weed known to man in my lirope (Lily family), spiderwort, Iris, and strawberry beds. I will go back and avoid spraying ornamentals with active ingredient 24-DB which doesn't kill clover, alfalfa, etc. but does kill other broadleaf weeds but not grasses. Make sure you carefully read the labels for both products and if you don't want to kill clover or legumes — make sure you use 24DB not 24D which kills all broadleaf weeds and legumes. Read the labels before using either product — Grass Out Max has different doses for different uses and veggies, etc. - also different lengths of time to wait before harvesting after spraying. Note legumes need to be well established before spraying. Grass Max is a post emergent. It's best to use something early in the season as a pre emergent to keep grassy weeds from germinating and getting established if you can. Agrisel (manufacturer) customer service was very helpful.

Good product combined with Non-Ionized surfactant

    By Dan on 06/15/2018

I had received misinformation which was corrected with a second call to DoMyOwn. This product needs a surfactant combined with it. It works and hasn't damaged my jasmine. However, a second application may be necessary after a couple of weeks. Check with DoMyOwn regarding amounts to mix with water. A little goes a long way for homeowner gardeners.

    Clover yard

    By Christopher on 06/08/2019

I have used this product twice. The first time more as a test to see if it damaged recently planted clover. I choose an area in my yard where grass had completely taken over the clever. In about a week the grass turned yellow then dried out. The clover is starting to grow better. The second time was only four days ago. About half of the grass is yellow and the clover is looking good. I mixed a little more than an ounce to 5 gallons of water and some surfactant. I may spray again in a week.

    Exceeded Expectatations!!

    By Terry on 06/12/2020

Dang it I wish I could remember the lady's name that helped me out when I called. Anyway not knowing what kind of junipers I had as well as what kind of grassy weeds I had, she pointed me to grass out max, long story short, 1/2oz to a gallon (which I trusted her, ( I felt like it wouldn't be enough put I trusted her :) with in 2 - 3 weeks it knocked out the weeds without effecting my junipers. awesome stuff, highly recommend.

    By Patrick on 10/09/2020

Used to eradicate some stubborn grasses from my brassica/clover plot. Took about 10 days to show full effect, but the grass is gone and my crop looks to be fine. Will use this again if needed.

    “Grass Out Max” Works!

    By Alfredthesemi-great on 09/10/2021

This is a herbicide that is specific to grass species. Does not harm most other types of plants. BUT read the very detailed instructions carefully!! Some (a few) ornamental plants could damaged by this Grass Out Max, and there is a comprehensive list in the instructions. I used this in flower beds/landscaping where invasive grasses like Bermuda were growing in and around desired ornamental plants. I have seen a pretty good kill of the grasses. However, my area was starting to get pretty dry when I sprayed. The instructions will tell you Grass Out Max is effective on actively growing grass, but not as effective on drought-stressed grass. I have a few areas I will have to respray after the grass gets some water. Two things to know: this Grass Out Max has to have time to travel through the grass blades (leaves) down into the roots. You won't see the grass dying for several days. Be patient, it's working. Second, shield adjacent lawn grass areas from the spray ( I sprayed with a 2 gallon tank garden sprayer), use a tarp or something similar. Remove right after you spray, and be careful not to allow the part of the tarp that has wet spray on it to drag over the grass. Overall very satisfied with results I got.

    It works really well

    By John on 06/03/2022

First off, the included pamphlets are very detailed and you might need to calculate the proper application for your situation. All that being said, I read a review that said to use 0.4 fluid ounces per gallon of mixture with 0.35 fluid ounces of a surfactant. This calculation was correct for my application once I worked out the proper rate from the pamphlets. I have an atv mounted 20 gallon sprayer that I use to spray food plots and around the house for all my needs. I needed this product to treat a field of sunflowers for wildlife on my property. I mixed the recommended rate that I received on this website and it really worked! All the field grasses were killed with the sunflowers looking not to be scathed. The product does take some time to work so don't expect a 24 hour turn around like some herbicides promote. It takes about a week to 10 days to work. I'm very happy with this product and this website to provide the insight into the specific application for my needs. I am now thinking to use this product on my flowerbeds and garden beds that get infested with grasses after I work so hard to prepare the areas. I'm going to research the provided pamphlets to ensure I'm mixing the correct dosage but this website does provide a valuable resource with their expertise.

    Bad start but good ending

    By Kim on 06/08/2024

I recently bought a 16 oz. bottle of grass killer. When it arrived the post office wrapped it in a garbage bag. The bottle had leaked and was saturated with this stuff and had a very pungent odor. The bottle was missing a cap and the inner seal had leaked to the point of being almost empty. I called DoMyOwn and was told that all i had to do was send them a picture of the bottle and I would have the option of another bottle being sent or a full refund. I took the refund as I had already found another product to do the job. They were very helpful and understanding. I will do business with them again and think more people should feel that they are trustworthy to stand behind there products and service.

    Works great!

    By Jake on 08/19/2018

I've tried a few other products to eliminate the grasses from beds of myrtle and other ground covers. Nothing seemed to work. After two applications of the Grass Out Max, the unwanted grasses are disappearing from view. The little bit of die-back in the perimeter lawn areas was not unexpected. I used a wetting agent to ensure good contact with the grass blades. Total success might not be evident for a couple of months, but results to date have been very positive.
