I have been told that Cynoff EC is good to use for pine bark beetles.

What would your mixing recommendations be for us on spruce and fir trees? Also suggested time to apply. I live in N.W. Montana.

Answer:

Cynoff EC is only labeled for elm leaf beetles it would not be recommended for any other type. The best product for pine bark beetles is Permethrin SFR 36.8%. Trees can be treated from April through to the end of June however trees must be sprayed protectively, before the beetles fly and attack. Spraying trees after they have been attacked will not save them. Once the tree is infested there isn't much you can do other than chop down the tree and burn it to try and prevent the current live ones from getting into any neighboring trees.  The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations.
