I have hollies that are infested with scale and sooty mold. Will Fertilome Drench get rid of scale?

Answer:

Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench would be an excellent option for scale on your holly trees. You will use 3 fl. oz. per foot of height per gallon of water. This product can beused for the overall healthcare of trees and shrubs and can be applied any time the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. These conditions will not allow the product to move through the soil properly.   For sooty mold, we would recommend using Fertilome Horticultural Oil RTS. It is actually labeled for both scale and sooty mold. You will spray this directly on the plant as needed. You will be using 2.5-5.0 fl. oz. per gallon of water. For best results the plants needing protection from the listed pests and diseases should be completely covered with spray. To be effective in killing insects the spray must completely cover the insect as it works to suffocate the insect and its eggs, larvae, and nymphs.
