Cheryl from Madisonville Ky writes

I have several issues: poison ivy, cave crickets, carpenter bees

Rural area with poison ivy & other nuisance vines, cave crickets in crawl space and carpenter bees boring into wood. Also, ticks are an issue. I need something that's pet safe. Im also concerned with infiltration into ground water & pond on the property. What can you recommend?

Answer:

Bonide Poison Ivy and Brush Killer is a great product for poison ivy and vines. For carpenter bees, we recommend applying the products from our Carpenter Bee Kit for the best results. For more information on treating carpenter bees, please click on the following link: Carpenter Bee Control. Talstar P mixed with an Insect Growth regulator such as Nyguard IGR would be a good choice for tick control. Talstar P would work to kill ticks that come into contact with treated surfaces, while the Nyguard would work to help stop juvenile ticks from reaching sexual maturity. All of these product applications should be kept at least 25 feet away from the pond.  Depending on what you are treating for, you could also use something like EcoVia EC instead, which is labeled for many of the same pests and will not harm aquatic life.
