Hi, can I use Garlon to eradicate bamboo and if so, what proportions?

Answer:

Garlon 4 is not labeled for use in residential areas, and it's not labeled for use on bamboo, so we do not recommend that application. Since bamboo is difficult to kill and has very deep roots, we recommend that you cut it and then apply an herbicide to the fresh cuts to prevent resprouting. You could potentially spray plants that are maybe 1-2 feet or shorter, but otherwise it is best to cut first. RoundUp QuikPro is used for this application a lot. You may also need to create some kind of physical barrier to prevent this from continuing to happen. If the conditions are right for the bamboo, then it will continue to spread. Some folks have created ditches, walls, or other physical barriers to help prevent bamboo from spreading.
