    Will Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer kill clover in my St Augustine lawn?

    Hi Yield 2, 4-D is NOT safe to be used on sensitive grasses such as Zoysia, Centipede and St. Augustine. Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer is labeled for sweet clover and white clover. The product label does note that light applications of Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer will injure white clover but that it may recover and repeat applications will be needed to kill the weed.  Speedzone Southern is labeled for clover and for use on St Augustine grass. According to the Speedzone Southern product label: "The turf tolerance to this product may vary and temporary turf grass yellowing may occur on St Augustine. Do not apply Speedzone Southern to Floratam, Bitterblue or other improved species of St. Augustine. Please take a few moments to read through the product label completely for full instructions and other precautions".

    Will Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer harm bermuda grass?

    Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer is safe for use on bermudagrass and would not harm it when applied as directed on the label.  Avoid applications in temperatures above 85.

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D can be used on established fescue grass as directed. Do not apply when temperatures are over 90 degrees F.

    I do not want to harm the grape vine but want weeds under it to be killed

    Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer would be safe as long as you are not applying inside the dripline of the grape vines and not allowing drift/overspray to contact the vines themselves.

    What is the mix ration for Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer targeting poison ivy?

    The mixing ratios will vary. According to the Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer product label: For Spot treatment in non-crop areas: Use 1 pint in 3 gallons of water or 4 oz. in 3/4 gallon in a hand sprayer. In pastures and range land: Use 3 to 4 oz. in 1 to 3 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. On Ornamental Turf: Use 16 oz. in 1 to 8 gallons of water per 2,725 sq. ft. or 2 gallons in 15 to 50 gallons per acre. Please review the product label for complete usage instructions.

    Can I use 2,4D on Strawberries?

    The Hi Yield 2,4 D is not labeled for use on any edibles to control weeds. Can you tell us what type of weeds are coming up around your strawberries that you are wanting to control? Do you know the species of the weeds or if they are grassy or broadleaf weeds?

    Will your Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer kill Fragrant Mayweed? Will it also kill Round-up Ready alfalfa?

    Fragrant mayweed is not covered on the label of Hi Yield 2,4-D Weed Killer, but Hi Yield 2,4-D Weed Killer will kill or injure alfalfa.

    Can Hi Yield 2-4 D be used to kill clover in Myrtle ground cover?
    Have used Round Up (75% concentration) and had limited damage to Myrtle.

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer  is not labeled to safely be applied to Myrtle ground cover, so we cannot recommend it. Spot treating with a glyphosate product such as RoundUp QuikPro would be the best and safest option.

    Does Hi-Yield 2,4-D Selective kill watershield in ponds and at what rate do you have to mix it?

    Hi-Yield 2,4-D Selective Weed Killer does list water shield on the product label. The label states: Boat Application: Use 1 gallon of this product in 25 gallons of water per acre.  Please refer to the product label for complete instructions on page 9-10.

    How can I kill most broadleafs but spare the White Dutch Clover in my field?
    I am wanting to leave the WDC for the honey bees to forage on. Wondering how the WDC seed companies manage the weeds i their fields.

    Herbicides such as Hi-Yield 2,4-D that will kill most broadleaf weeds will also kill existing clover. We would recommend just spot treating the areas with undesirable plants and then reseeding with your clover as needed.

    Will Hi-Yield 2,4-D kill crabgrass in Florida?

    Hi-Yield 2,4-D is mainly labeled for broadleaf weeds and will not treat crabgrass.  It would be best to know what kind of desirable turf grass you have in the area that needs to be treated, as many of the herbicides that are labeled for crabgrass may also damage several types of turf grass that are common in your area.  Please take a look at our Crabgrass Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing this weed.

    How soon can pets inter after treatment of an area after an application with Hi-Yield 2,4-D Selective Weed Killer?

    Pets can usually return to the areas that are treated with Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer about 2 hours after the application. You want to make sure that the entire treated area is completely dry before allowing re-entry by any animals.

    VPG (the manufacturer) advises to wait a minimum of 30 days after application of Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer before allowing animals to graze.

    Per the product label for Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer, it is recommended that you wait until the next growing season to plant anything. For example, if the product was applied in the spring, items can be planted in the fall and vice versa.

    My son sprayed for dandelions without mixing concentrate with water. What should I do?
    A

    Unfortuntely, there is not much you can do after the product has been sprayed except to wait. You will want to keep a close eye on the turf where the product was used since the straight 2,4-D product could easily damage it. You may need to overseed if there are spots where the turf dies out. We would recommend waiting right now and being sure to fertilize and water the lawn so that there is not any other unecessary stress on it. Be sure to read and follow the product label when using this or any other herbicides.
