According to the Hi Yield 38-Plus product label you should use dilute 0.4 to 0.8 fl ozs. (2 1/2 to 5 tsp.) in at least 4 gallons of water and this dilution should be sprayed over 1,000 sq. ft for tick control in the yard.
Once dry, Hi Yield 38 Plus will not be harmful to your dog if they eat the grass that was sprayed. The small amount of active ingredient that is left behind is only enough to harm a small insect and would have to be ingested in large quantities to harm a dog.
You would mix 1.6 fl oz of Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control - 38% Permethrin with 1 gallon of water to make a 0.5% spray solution to treat active infestations only. Please be aware that while labeled for termites, it will only kill the termites that are in the treated area or that are sprayed directly and would be a good preventative for them. Termidor SC is a much better product that will help to eliminate the colony of subterranean termites and also be a great preventative when used in a trench around a home.
We would recommend keeping any animals, including cats and birds, out of the area while treating with Hi-Yield 38 Plus Insect Control. Be sure not to spray when fireflies or butterflies are out so that they are unaffected.
Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control is labeled to be be applied at entry points of the structure such as window frames, doorways, porches, patios and foundation. plication rate may be needed to ensure adequate coverage. Residual control will vary depending on exposure of the treated area to weathering conditions (temperature, sunlight, moisture). Retreat on a monthly schedule while Insects are likely to be active.
For Outdoor Perimeter Applications: Spray a 6 to 8 foot wide band of soil around the perimeter of the house. Treat the foundation wall to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Use a spray volume of 2 to 10 gallons of 0.5% emulsion per 1,000 square feet.
