  • Asked by Janet

    Q
What will kill webworms but not flowers or shrubs?
We have web worms all over the sides of our house. Do web worms lay eggs or how do they reproduce?
    A

Webworms aka tent caterpillars, form their webs on bushes, tree trunks etc so the hatched young have something to eat.  While they may be on the home/walls this would not be where they would form the nest/tent treating the property as a whole will help with elimination if caught early enough. There is a great article here that might help.

    Q
If I spray the Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insecticide Spray and don't use the whole gallon of solution, can I store it in the garage?
If so, approximately what is the shelf life?
    A

No, it is not recommended that you leave mixed product in your sprayer. This will decrease the effectiveness of the product. A new batch of Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insecticide Spray should be mixed for each treatment. The shelf life of the unmixed product is 3-5 years.

  • Asked by Sharon
    05/27/2017
    Q
Does the petroleum in the Hi-Yield 55% Malathion mean it is an oil?
I need to treat my roses (not when they are in bloom). However, I can not use neem oil because it fries the leaves when it is hot. I was told by the local rose society not to use ANY type of oil products here in SE Florida because they will all fry the leaves. So I am trying to determine which of your products for mites do not have an oil base..... thank you
    A

Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insecticide Spray is an oil-based product.  An alternative water-based product for mites would be Talstar P, though no product should be used during the heat of the day to prevent burning.  Apply early morning or late evening, avoiding blooms.
