LAWNS, SHRUBS, ROSES, AZALEAS, RHODODENDRONS AND CAMELLIAS

For ornamental beds, make application using a hand held spreader. Place the amount (lbs.) in the spreader per the alkalinity levels listed below and apply per 100 sq. ft. Adjust setting selector to 2. Apply product.

  • In Moderately Alkaline Soil: (pH 7.9 TO 8.4) - Apply 1 - 1 1/2 lbs. per 100 square feet
  • In Strongly Alkaline Soil: (pH 8.5 and up) - Apply 1 lb. per 200 square feet

For lawns, apply with a drop or broadcast (rotary) fertilizer spreader. Apply the product at a rate of 1 lb. per 100 sq. ft. This bag will cover 400 sq ft. of lawn area.
Followed By Subsequent Treatment As Needed.

POTTED PLANTS

  • 4 in. - 8 in. Containers - 1 teaspoon per container
  • 8 in. - 12 in. Containers - 2 teaspoons per container

TREES, CITRUS AND SHRUBS

Use about 2 ounces (4 Tablespoons) Hi-Yield Iron Plus for the average shrub, working into the top 2 to 4 inches of the soil around the shrub. For trees up to 3 inches in trunk diameter, use 6 ounces (12 Tablespoons) of Hi-Yield Iron Plus per inch diameter. For trees 4 inches or more in trunk diameter, use 8 ounces (16 Tablespoons) per inch diameter -- equally applied in holes 10 to 12 inches deep around the drip line of tree. IMPORTANT: Water shrubs and trees thoroughly after application to get nutrients into the root zone.

APPLICATION EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUCTIONS

This product can be applied with a drop or broadcast (rotary) spreader. For best results, apply this product evenly and uniformly over the turfgrass (lawn) area avoiding streaking, skips or overlaps.

Before each application, determine the correct amount (lbs.) of product to place in the spreader hopper for the area to be treated. For example, if the label states to apply 1 lb. per 100 sq. ft. and your area to treat is 200 sq. ft. then place 2 lbs. of product in the hopper and set the spreader setting at 10 (per table below) if using an Accugreen drop spreader.

A more uniform application can be made by spreading one-half of the recommended amount of this product over the turfgrass area and then applying the remaining one-half of this product at a right angle to the previous application direction.

    Deep Blue Bluegrass

    By Mark on 10/08/2018

Let me up front, I bought a bag of this on a whim here in town but I normally buy all my herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides from domyown.com. Let me tell you this stuff helps get that deep blue color come late summer early fall and helps minimize or eliminate that popcicle lime green your lawn gets. I also bought it because I have a very high PH and I've been battling Necrotic Ringspot. While fungicides help control it sulfur soil amendments have been shown by Colorado State studies to have an impact on lessening the extent of damage Necrotic Ringspot can do. This bag will continue to be in my lawncare program unless my PH levels get too close to the 6 range which I'm still a long way from. I will probably be tacking this on my future orders.

    Maple tree in recovery!

    By Eileen on 08/08/2020

The young maple tree in my yard started to turn colors prematurely. A little research indicated this was due to an iron deficiency & poor Ph in the soil. This product was recommended. Easy to apply, and appears to have halted the problem. Really pleased!

Q
Spreader settings for using Hi-Yield Iron Plus Soil Acidifier 11-0-0

It only gives spreader settings for a couple of spreaders, any idea what it would be for andersons yard star spreader? Thanks.

A

Unfortunately we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag of Hi-Yield Iron Plus Soil Acidifier 11-0-0. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this here.
