If you are looking to prevent weed growth in an area where edibles are planted, you will want to use Monterey Vegetable and Ornamental Weeder after you have planted.
The Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide label says that it works best when watered in with 0.5" of rain. Any amounts over that would be considered overwatering and would probably just wash the product away. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected within 24 to 48 hrs following the application.
