You could certainly use the 4 The Birds gel along the areas where the birds have tried to enter or rest to deter them from the home. Another option would be temporarily putting up bird spikes to not allow them to rest near that area at all which will push them to find other areas away from your home. Make sure to seal up the hole they created well and make sure there is nothing in your attic attracting them through smell to make them want to come in.
