This is complicated to explain via email but we will do our best. If you open the lid to the Victor Tin cat you will see the two mechanisms that are the "traps". The doors only work one way. As the mice enter the trap the lever acts as a see-saw. The inner lever goes down allowing them to enter the trap as the back lever lifts up from their weight not allow them to back up. Once inside the trap the lever goes back to the original position keeping the mice inside. you can test the lever with your fingers as if you are a mouse coming in.
