Robert from Blue Bell, Pa writes

How much Permethrin SFR do you add to a gallon of water for outside tick treatment on lawns?

Answer:

You should use the higher usage rate of Permethrin SFR for heavy infestations, faster knockdowns and longer lasting residuals and lower usage rates for maintenance sprays. You will need to use higher volumes of water to get the product over thick, dense vegetation. If you are treating your lawn for ticks we recommend you use the higher specified usage rate of 0.8 fl oz for 1,000 sq ft using whatever volume of water is needed. If you are treating up close to your home you are permitted to use the .5% emulsion (1 2/3 fl. oz. per gallon of water) per 1,000 sq ft as a perimeter treatment.
