I live in NY and own a 2 story mixed use building with approx 4800 sq ft of space. 2400 sq ft is commercial (non food business) and 2400 sq ft is residential, split into 2 apartments. Each apt (1 of which i live in) is about 1200 sq ft. 1/2 of the building is on slab, 1/2 has basement. No dirt or trees surround building. There are black ants found inside the building, but i have not spotted them in the basement(i dont know for sure which kind, but judging by pics i would say odorous house ants or pavement ants), they are not carpenter ants. Last year we had a flying ant problem, which started off as seeing ants like this year (they were not termites). I'm afraid they will turn to flying ants and swarm again. In the apartments, they are found all along the baseboard ONLY where there are baseboard heating since the exposed pipes and flooring have very large gaps. I think the ants are in the walls and crawling up. Just a non professional guess. I have tried diatomaceous earth (food grade) since we have a 2 month old baby in the apt. I have also tried the Home Depot style insecticidal sprays. None have worked at stopping more ants from appearing. I have also tried Terro traps (ones found at Home Depot) and set up about 12 of them around the apartment. They do go for the bait, but again they do not stop from coming back. It has been almost 2 months with the bait, and 2 weeks with the DE. They are both found on the slab side and basement side of the building. They are crawling in my bed at night (and on me). We find a few dead ones in the bed. They are not nesting there however. i think they are just crawling looking for food or something and then die. We are having an exterminator come to the building to spray (like he did last year). But i have little faith this will solve the issue. I was looking at the ant pack you have on your site that includes the gel and pellet baits. Would this be a good solution? Since i cannot find the source of the ants, would it be smart to put these baits all over the building? How many bait stations would i need to treat the entire building? Please help!
It sounds like the true issue to the problem is there is a large nest, or multiple nests that are not being eliminated. You will need something that is going to have a very good transfer effect on the colony and get back to the source of the problem. We have several products that could potentially work for your needs but it can more easily be explained over the phone than via text. Can you please give us a call so that we can discuss the issue at hand in detail with you? 1-866-581-7378
