JUST TODDAY

I just put the product down today Was very confused as to what setting I should have set my Scott's Turf Builder Spreader at. So I varied it as I saw it I will let you know in several months.

We do know choosing a spreader setting can be confusing. We have made a video explaining how to calibrate your spreader to make sure you are applying the correct amount of product to get satisfactory results. I'm into my first 18 months or so of using this as part of the yearly maintenance subscription. I easily have more weeds now than when I started.

If you have weeds that are actively growing we would also recommend using a post-emergent product to kill the existing weeds. Once they are under control, the pre-emergent can stop new weeds from emerging. Please let us know if you need assistance choosing a post-emergent. We are always happy to help!

Did not control weeds

Applied early while grass was still dormant. Grass is now green but now I have more weeds than before I started using this product. Throwing it away.

Timing is always key when using pre-emergent herbicides. The general rule for spring is to apply your pre-emergent herbicide treatment after the ground has thawed from the winter but before the temperature of your soil reaches 55 degrees, as that is when crabgrass begins to germinate. Other weeds will germinate when the soil temperature is between 55 and 65 degrees. You can use a soil thermometer to determine the temperature of your lawn/area. You will want to measure the temperature of the soil a few inches below ground. You may also contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region or search online for best time to apply in your area.
