Hyvar X-L Herbicide will typically last for at least a year. Moisture is required for activation. Best results are obtained when the soil is moist at the time of application and irrigation occurs following application. Since moisture is required, signs of control may be slow to appear and may not become apparent until moisture carries the herbicide into the root zone of targeted weeds. Hyvar X-L Herbicide is a weed control product to be used in non-crop and industrial sites and it offers long term residual weed control, lasting up to a year.  Round Up has no residual, so it will kill whatever it comes in contact with, but the weeds will grow right back.

No, you do not need a license to use or purchase Hyvar XL Herbicide.

The Hyvar X-L Herbicide rates will vary depending on the type of weeds you are treating, so the amount that one container will make is dependent on that information.   Please consult the product label to find the appropriate rate for the weeds you need to treat.  Keep in mind that this product is mainly meant for treating large areas so the instructions will not be broken down into a rate per gallon.

Hyvar X-L Herbicide is specifically made for clearing industrial sites like lumber yards, industrial, utility, fence rows, highway rights-of-way, railroads, farm storage areas and petroleum tank farms. Also, it can be enforced under ponder liners, asphalt and concrete such as median strips and highway shoulders that have been qualified as areas with better construction practices away from vegetation. Please note that the product must not be utilized in recreational areas or in or around homes. 

No, Hyvar X-L Herbicide has a shelf life of 3-5 years when stored in a cool dry place. It would not be effective to use if it has been sitting for 5 years. 

Hyvar X-L Herbicide is a water soluble liquid that easily mixes with water. It is administered with the use of non-aluminum spray for basal and bare ground treatment applications.

Hyvar X-L Herbicide is not labeled to control locust trees so we cannot recommend it for this use.  A better option would be Remedy Ultra following the instructions on the product label for either cut stump or dormant stem application.

You would want to keep applications of Hyvar X-L Herbicide at least 10 feet away from a well.

Hyvar X-L Herbicide is safe to use in areas pets normally would be as long as you are following the instructions on the product label. All pets should be out of the area while making the application and until the treated areas are completely dry typically at least 4-6 hours.

Hyvar X-L Herbicide has been discontinued. Hyvar X-L IVM Herbicide is labeled to control both crabgrass and bermudagrass in the following sites: Airports, Highway, Railroad and Utility Rights-Of-Way, Farmyards, Fence rows, Barrier strips, and other non-crop industrial sites. Please review the product label for application rates and instructions. 

The yield of one gallon of Hyvar X-L Herbicide will vary depending on the weeds being targeted. Please refer to the product label for use rates beginning on page 2 of the product label. For smaller area application rates, we would recommend contacting the manufacturer Bayer directly at 800-331-2867 since the Hyvar X-L Herbicide has been discontinued and replaced with Hyvar X-L IVM Herbicide.
