    Q
Is Insecticidal Soap Concentrate safe to use on Japanese Red Maples?
I have scale insects killing seedlings and looking for a treatment to kill scales.
    A
We do not recommend spraying anything on the foliage of Japanese Red Maples. You should use a systemic product for scale insects on these sensitive trees. Safari is the preferred systemic to use as a soil drench but it is also quite expensive. If Safari is out of your price range, Merit or Criterion can be used as a soil drench as well.

    Q
Is Insecticidal Soap Concentrate safe for honey bees?
    A

Insecticidal Soap Concentrate is a non-selective insecticide when applied directly to them, so we do not recommend spraying on flowering plants while pollinators are present. It is recommended to treat flowering plants in the morning or evening when beneficial pollinators are not present.

    Q
Is Natural Guard Insecticidal Soap effective against flea beetles? How much concentrate per gallon of water?
How often should you use it?
    A
The Natural Guard Insecticidal Soap Concentrate is not labeled for flea beetles so we cannot recommend that you use it for this pest. We do carry Bayer Advanced Vegetable and fruit spray and Sevin Concentrate both of which are labeled for use on flea beetles in garden settings.

Mix 4 teaspoons of Insecticidal Soap Concentrate with 1 quart of water. Avoid spraying during full sun. Spray early in morning or evening orwhen overcast. Soap spray may cause marking of some varieties. If concerned about sensitivity of plants, apply to individual plants or small areas of plants and wait to determine if plant damage (phytotoxicity) occurs prior to treatment of larger areas.
