    How do I get rid of drain flies in the kitchen?
    I am having a big problem with drain flies in my home kitchen. My problem is that I cannot remove the cross bars in sink drain, so I will not be able to apply the gel to the sides of drain. Before I purchase, I thought I would ask your help. These things are really annoying, and I would like to rid them, prior to the holidays. Thanks!

    Most people cannot remove the cross bars on the drain and that is ok.  The Invade Bio Drain and our other gels have a spout on the top and you can squeeze the bottle and "shoot" the product out the spout onto the sides of the drain.  Also, if you treat along the outside perimeter of the drain it should run down the sides where it needs to go.  You may want to consider our Drain Fly Kit which has a very high success rate.

    Do you pour water down drain after putting drain gel down drain? Or do you let it sit 8 hours unused and the next morning run water down drain?
    A

    We recommend that you apply 4 oz of Invade Drain Gel in each drain opening when they are not in use. You should refrain from running water down the drain after application so the product has time to be effective in breaking up the organic matter in the drain. We also suggest appling 2-3 squirts of Gentrol IGR Aerosol after the drain gel to impede the insects reproductive cycle. Please let us know if you need anything else.

    Does Draino kill the microbial action of Invade Bio Drain? I had to use it between orders.
    A
    Draino contains some very harsh chemicals and most likely would kill the microbial action of the Invade Bio Drain. We recommend rinsing the drain very thoroughly before reapplying the drain treatment.

    Drain gel is very thick and doesn't really get into the drain. Should one pour a bit of lukewarm water into the sink to force it down into the drain?

    You can, but Drain Gel  is supposed to be thick so it coats the drain as it goes down.  You should direct the gel just down the lip and sides going into the drain.  You should not coat on top of the drain on the sink so it won't go down the drain.

    Does the 1 gallon bottle comes with a pourer like the smaller size bottle?

    Unfortunately, no.  The larger gallon size has a typical wide opening and does not have a spout like the smaller quart size bottle.

    Can I use InVade Bio Drain if there is a garbage disposal in the drain?

    Yes, you can use the InVade Bio Drain in any drain including one containing a garbage disposal. We also carry the InVade Hot Spot which foams in the drain and will also be very effective for drains with disposal.

    Is InVade Bio Drain safe and effective for the shower drain?
    Specifically to eat through hair clogs that have gone into the shower drain?

    InVade Bio Drain is safe for the drain in the shower. It will break up organic matter in the drain. However, if there is an excessive amount of hair inside the drain, you may need to use a tool (you can purchase locally) that works well for unclogging and removing hair from the drain.

    How is Bio Drain applied?

    InVade Bio Drain (Gel) Application Instructions

    To use Invade Bio Drain:

    1. If drain to be treated is not used regularly, first moisten the drain with 1 to 2 gallon of warm water before treatment.
    2. Apply product at periods of time during the day when drains are in lowest usage.
    3. Apply 4 oz to each drain around the edges, making sure to coat the sides.
    4. Repeat daily for 5-7 days and then every 1-2 weeks for ongoing maintenance.
    5. For drains that have a very heavy layer of scum, clean the drain with a brush before beginning treatment for immediate results and then maintain with InVade Bio Drain to prevent further build-up.

    Can you put Invade Bio Drain in a toilet tank overflow to clean the toilet jets?
    We have a reoccurring issue with mold and/or mineral deposits under the rim of the toilets coming from the water holes (jets) that we haven't been able to completely clear out with a regular toilet brush and cleaners. Would Bio Drain gel help?

    InVade Bio Drain probably won't be the best product to use in your situation. You can turn the water off to the toilet and flush it so that the bowl and the tank are empty. Thoroughly scrub both, paying special attention to the area under the lip of the bowl and the tank. While the toilet is drained, you can apply Invade Hot Shot Foam to the tank and the bowl and let it sit overnight to clean all of the cracks and crevices that you may not be able to clean properly. This process may need to be repeated a few times before you are able to get rid of all of the gunk that has built up over time.

    What is the best combine use when using Bio Drain and Gentrol to control drain flies and phorid flies?
    If you put the biodrain in, does it take away the effectivness of the gentrol?

    Gentrol IGR should be mixed with water and can be used inside the downspout and catch basin area of the drain. This application will be completed before you use the Invade Bio Drain. You will repeat applications every 2-4 weeks.  The Invade Bio Drain should be used by itself. You will use this to coat the drain and kill the microbes inside the drain.

    Will use of InVade Bio Drain contribute to a "slow" drain?
    Since this product uses microbes in formulation thick enough to coat the insides of drains and to eat through scum, could this action create or contribute to a "slow" drain?

    InVade Bio Drain would not cause a slow drain and the microbes actually help unclog drains of organic matter that can cause a slow drain.  You would leave in the drain over night (when less used) and then rinse in the morning.

    What are sugar snakes and how does Invade Bio Drain help with them?

    Sugar snakes are when sugar builds up inside drain lines and feeds bacteria living in the drain. The bacteria then colonizes and grows, forming into the shape of the drain line concealing it, which resembles a snake. InVade Bio Drain helps to remove this buildup keeping the drains free and running properly.
