Martins Gopher Bait 50 is a grain bait formulated for controlling pocket gophers in subsoil. It is best to use once there is an established burrow system. For treatment, insert one teaspoon of the bait into the tunnel and close the tunnel with soil. A single pound of this bait can treat up to 8 acres, depending on the number of burrow systems. This product is excellent on fields, pastures, croplands, and rangeland. It is available in a one-pound container and a four-pound container.

This product is toxic to fish, birds and other wildlife. Do not allow bait to be exposed on soil surface. Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes.
Remove burrow plug from flat side of burrow fan or locate main runway by probing with a metal rod or wooden stick. Resistance on probe will decrease when you are in the main runway. Insert 1 teaspoon of bait into burrow system, using a long-handled spoon if necessary. Close tunnel with soil. Do not permit soil to cover bait. One pound of bait will treat 1-8 acres, depending upon number of burrow systems to be treated. Retreat according to above directions if new gopher activity is noticed.

This stuff works and it kills them fast. One eating is enough to kill the gopher and it will die in a couple of hours, not days. In east Texas, pocket gophers a re major problem and this eradicates them. You have to be diligent and consistent in treating every mound but you will see an immediate reduction in the gopher population.

The first bottle of this seemed to work well but its hard to tell without any evidence of actual death. Im not sure if it killed them or they just moved next door. I did start to see mounds in my across the street neighbors yard so I'm not sure. The second bottle I've been using to chase one particularly crafty gopher and having no success. I read somewhere that if the bait just makes them sick they will avoid it. Im trying a different one now and will see how that does.
Martins Gopher Bait 50 is only labeled for gophers, no other animals. We do carry Mole Control products here.
