Yes, Martins I.G. Regulator is a Growth Regulator that inhibits fleas from advancing from larvae to the adult stage and make adult fleas sterile being effective for up to 7 months on new adult fleas that may be introduced and contact the treated areas. Keep in mind, IGR’s do not kill insects, they only stop the growth cycle.
We do suggest for active flea infestations indoors, repeat applications be applied at 14 day intervals with both an insecticide + IGR as mentioned in our Flea Treatment Guide.
We do recommend using an adulticide with the Martins IGR, however, it can be used alone. It will take longer to get rid of the fleas since this product is just an insect growth regulator. We would recommend using Diatomaceous Earth instead of Boric Acid since that is mainly for roaches and other crawling insects. Also, we would recommend vacuuming daily in between treatments. You may want to consider using a gentle contact kill for adult fleas such as Wondercide Flea and Tick Pets and Home, which does not have restrictions on pets or people in the area at the time of use.
Please check out our Flea Guide for tips on how to treat and prevent fleas in the future.
Yes, Martins IGR can be applied indoors and outdoors (lawns, trees and shrubs) for the listed pests as directed on the label. You generally want to apply the Martins IGR when it will not rain for at least 24 hours after application. This insures that the product has enough time to dry and adhere to the surface it has been applied to. It should not be applied to containerized plants or near any edible vegetation.
Yes, Martins IGR can be sprayed in areas where fleas may harbor, such as carpets, furniture, pet sleeping areas and rugs as long as you are following the instructions on the product label, however, this product is designed to stop the fleas' reproductive cycles. An IGR will not actually kill the fleas, so you would still want to use an insecticide labeled for this area.
Instead of using this product, you may use a product such as PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol which is an insecticide and IGR together in one product. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. Also, please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Fleas Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.
