The active ingredient in I.G. Regulator is Nylar, an insect growth regulator. Nylar is similar to insect growth hormones that occurs naturally in insects and acts on the immature life stages of the flea, preventing the adult flea from developing. Flea eggs deposited on treated areas will not develop into adult fleas. Flea larvae crawling onto treated surfaces will also not develop into adult fleas.
The unique properties of Nylar eliminates the flea population, when used as directed. Nylar® causes a gradual reduction and ultimate elimination of the flea population by breaking the reproductive cycle. Nylar stops the flea life cycle and inhibits the development of the immature stages of the flea 7 months preventing them from reaching the biting adult stage. Existing adult fleas and flea pupae are not affected.
If a high population of adult fleas are present, the use of an adulticide such as Conquer may be necessary for immediate relief. I.G. Regulator compliments the rapid activity of the adulticide by providing long term control of preadult fleas before they grow up to be biting adults.

Great stuff

I was using Martin's to stp fleas and saw it is also good for cockroaches. I had a horrible infestation. I sprayed everything with Martin's, and it eradicated all the fleas and all the cockroaches. Best long-term treatment for both I've ever used. Took about a month to take effect, as I didn't use poison with it, but has lasted more than the 7 months. I love it. Just follow the directions, quite simple really.

Control of outside bugs in Florida
By Ray on 09/26/2013
This product mixed with Bifen I/G according to the labels. It really is effective for ants, roaches, fleas in Florida. It has lasted for about six months after I spray it around the outside perimeter of the house, garage and shed. I use about 1/4 cup/3 gallons of water.

I.G.R. (insect growth regulator)
By David on 05/14/2016
This product is fantasic. It basicly stops the eggs from reproducing for up to 7 months. We had a flea problem last year and no matter how many times I sprayed with the other spray, they would hatch new eggs. With in a week, we had a whole new crop of fleas. one time spray with IGR it killed everything. Customer service was very prompt and I had the product with in a few days.

We have been told to mix Martins Viper insecticide with Martins IGR for treating fleas indoors. However in reading the directions, Martins IGR (growth inhibitor) can be sprayed indoors on carpets, furniture, pet sleeping areas and rugs, while Martins Viper adulticide is directed to be sprayed indoors on Cracks and crevices not on couches and beds .... so how can you mix these two chemicals when they are not supposed to be sprayed in the same areas?
You are correct. Martins IGR can be mixed with Viper. Specific label instructions still apply to each product. If you find that you are needing to treat areas that Viper cannot be applied, you will need to apply the products separately. You should not apply either of these products on bedding, mattresses, or the skin contact areas of couches or other furniture.

I ask this because many of the Pyriproxyfen (the prime ingredient) studies via Google scholar, while talking about the sterilization of male/females adults also refer to the feces being contaminated, as such when other fleas consume it they themselves are sterilized. So would it better to wait 2 - 7 days? or just vacuum every day?
