  • Asked by Debbie from Ovilla, Tx

    Q
Will Martins Permethrin 10% kill grub worms?
If so, how to mix and apply with the pump sprayer or is there a better method?
    A

Martins Permethrin 10% is labeled to control grubs as directed on page 4 of the product label.  Thoroughly wet down grass a few hours before applying. Home lawns should be no taller than 3 inches at time of application. Slightly more water may be used as long as the amount of product per area is as listed below. For heavy infestations, repeat application after 2 weeks. For grubs, use 1 1/2 fl. ozs. in 10 gals. of water to cover 1,000 sq. ft.

You may find our article on grub control helpful.  Generally a systemic like Adonis 2F is a more recommended option for treatment.

  • Asked by Kevin from Cedar Key, Florida
    03/01/2017
    Q
What is the effectiveness of Martins Permethrin 10% after it's mixed with water?
Some invectiicides state they need to be used within 24 hours after being mixed with water. Is this the case with martin's 10% permethrin? And if so how much martins permethrin needs to be added to 16 fl oz to make a 0.10% solution? I need to make a bedding and furniture spray for sarcoptic mange.
    A

Martins Permethrin 10% is effective once it's mixed with water, remember that water is the carrier that allows the product to be applied evenly. Just as with other insecticides, the product must be used within 24 hours of being diluted otherwise the effectiveness does decrease. According to the label, to create a .10% solution, you will need to mix 1.33 ounces per gallon of water or for a pint of solution that will equal about 0.16 oz per 16 oz of water. According to the label though, if you're doing a dog dip you will need to use at least 8 ounces in 12.5 gallons of water, please read over the label for more information and treatment dilutions. Also, we do recommend to see your pets veterinerian for treatment.

  • Asked by Jeff
    03/21/2017
    Q
How long can I store the remaining mixture of Martins Permethrin 10% in my sprayer?
    A

You should not store mixed Martins Permethrin 10% or any other insecticide concentrate for longer that 24 hours in a sprayer. Concentrated insecticides will begin to separate which will clog the lines as well as destroy the seals in the sprayer. We recommend mixing a gallon at a time and discarding left over solution.

  • Asked by Cindy from Kalama, Wa.
    04/01/2017
    Q
What is the ratio of Martins Permethrin 10% to spray outdoors for boxelders bugs?
The outside of the house is covered in boxelders bugs. Does this product leave stains on house paint, and will it damage plants?
    A

Martins Permethrin 10% is not labeled for boxelder bugs so would not be recommended.  While it might kill them, the manufacturer either has not tested it against them or did and found it to not be very effective.  A better recommendation would be to use the stronger Permethrin SFR which lists boxelder bugs on the label.  It will not stain and is safe when used as directed on and around ornamental plants, do not apply during the heat of the day to avoid burning.  You would use 1 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water and thoroughly spray tree trunks (if found on), building siding or wherever pests congregate, but not to the point of runoff.

  • Asked by Ulonda from Elizabethtown, Nc

    Q
Can Martins Permethrin 10% be used on my couches and bedding?
    A

Martins Permethrin 10% cannot be applied to couches and beds/bedding. It is NOT labeled for bedbugs. Please look at our Bed Bug Kits for all the necessary products to do a full treatment for bed bugs. It is recommended after you see evidence bed bugs are in your home that you treat completely to prevent further infestations. Bed Bugs can lay go up to 18 months without eating making it very likely for them to reappear. To treat your couch alone, we would recommend using Sterifab on the surfaces and Bedlam Aerosol spray in the tufts and folds of the couch and underside of the cushions.

Please look at some of our Bed Bug Control Articles here.
