    Q
Dad sprayed florel regulator all over the roots of an olive tree. Will that harm the tree??
    A

The Monterey Florel Growth Regulator is not a systemic product and will not be pulled through the tree. In fact, it  and most other plant growth regulators on the market must be applied as a foliar spray to work. The chemicals need to be directly applied to the leaf tissue to work and will not be pulled through the root to impact the plant.   We would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer though to confirm if there will be any issue.Email:  [email protected]

    Q
Can Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator be applied as a soil drench application on mature walnut trees to slow fruit formation?
The tree is to tall to spray.
    A

Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator must be applied as a foliar spray to be effective. This is best applied in the mid- to full-bloom stage when you are wanting to prevent fruit set.

  • Asked by Rhonda from Amarillo Texas

    Q
Can Florel be used to stop a pecan tree from producing nuts?
    A

Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator is only designed for applications to ornamental tree species and not any edible plants. The manufacturer has not tested or provided instructions for use on that plant so we are unsure if it would work or be safe. We would recommend contacting a local Farmers Co-op or your states Department of Agriculture for pecan tree help if there are options to help stop the fruiting.

  • Asked by Judith from Green Valley, Az.
    09/01/2021
    Q
Can a 2nd application of Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator be used on Live Oaks after acorns start to come out? First application was the first and second weeks in April. We have a problem with Javelinas in our area and want to discourage them from our property.
    A

Applications of Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator should be made at the mid to full bloom stage, prior to fruit set. Apply no more than 6 spray applications per year at 3 to 10 day intervals beginning at first true leaf stage.

If acorns have begun to produce, the applicaiton will be less effective. Per the product label, sprays applied too early or too late will be less effective and result in incomplete fruit elimination.

  • Asked by Mary from Yucaipa, Ca
    05/26/2021
    Q
I had too much Florel sprayed on a Chinaberry trees and the leaves are falling. Will the leaves grow back?
    A

If the tree is already under stress, Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator may increase the stress on the tree. It works on contact only, it does not enter the tree like other growth regulators. Therefore, it will not have adverse growth effects and there is no burn (phytotoxicity) to the new leaf growth.  We would recommend speaking to the manufacturer, Monterey Lawn and Garden, for further assistance. Their phone number is 559-499-2100.

  • Asked by Kevin from Cedar City, Ut
    05/18/2021
    Q
Is there a growth regulator that can be applied to the root system and absorbed into the tree? I
I have 2 honey locus trees and they are 40 ft tall and I can only get the spray on the bottom limbs, I was hoping to just pour the growth regulator on the root system to stop the pods from forming
    A

The Monterey Florel Growth Regulator and most other plant growth regulators on the market must be applied as a foliar spray to work. The chemicals need to be directly applied to the leaf tissue to work and will not be pulled through the root to impact the plant in the way you are hoping. It is not a systemic product and will not be pulled through the tree. You may need to hire a company that has a spray rig that can reach the top of the trees for you, or see if there is equipment you can rent to do a proper foliar spray treatment.

  • Asked by Van from Reno
    04/21/2021
    Q
Can Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator be applied to crabapple trees that are just budding, there are no blooms? This was applied by an Arborist company to 2 of my apple trees.
    A

According to the product label, applications of Monterey Florel Brand Growth Regulator should be made at the mid to full bloom stage, prior to fruit set in spray volumes sufficient to wet, but not to runoff. Failure to wet blooms thoroughly will cause incomplete fruit elimination. Spraying too much (until runoff) may cause some defoliation or other plant injury.

Sprays applied too early or too late will be less effective and result in incomplete fruit elimination
