    Q
How often should I spray the trees with Monterey Horticultural Oil? It says as needed until harvest.
    A

Monterey Horticultural Oil is a contact kill only so would only be used when target pests are present for you to make contact with.  That is why it is applied as needed and no set restriction between applications nor the max number of applications.  We would recommend not applying more than once per day as needed to avoid plant injury.

  • Asked by Darren from Newark, Nj
    06/26/2013
    Q
Can the Monterey Horticultural Oil be used in a thermal fogger?
I'm trying to find a deodorized oil base to mix my pesticide with to use with my thermal fogger. I was told never to use any water based chemicals in a thermal fogger. Any suggestions?
    A
The Monterey Horticultural Oil cannot be used in a fogger according to the product label. You may want to check with the manufacturer of the pesticide you are going to use to see if what product they recommend mixing it with, or if you can use the oil based pesticide undiluted in your thermal fogger. You are definitely correct that you cant use water based chemicals in a thermal fogger as this would be similar to pouring water in the gas tank of your car. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we apologize we couldn't offer more information for your needs.

  • Asked by Pete from Cape Coral Florida
    06/24/2018
    Q
What is the best Horticultural Oil to remove Cyclad Scale from my Sago Palms?
    A

In order to completely eradicate cyclad scale, you will need to treat systemically with around the roots with a product that contains Dinotefuran such as Zylam Liquid Systemic Insecticide, and then treat the foliage with the Monterey Horticultural Oil. The older the scale is, the harder they are to control. Repeat treatments usually are needed.

  • Asked by Len from Santa Rosa, Ca

    Q
Can I mix Monterey Garden Insect Spray with Monterey Horticultural Oil?
    A

The Monterey Garden Insect Spray does not specifically state on its product labelwhether it can or can't be mixed with other insecticides that allow for usage in the same treatment areas. While we do not see any harm in mixing those two particular organic insecticides together to apply at the same time, we suggest doing a tank mix test first to make sure the products will be compatible and not clump, discolor or change quality in the tank before spraying.

    Q
Can I use Monterey Horticultural Oil to kill white scale on my privet shrub?
    A

Monterey Horticultural Oil can be applied to soft and armored scale on shrubs using a garden sprayer. Thoroughly cover the infested plant, making sure you completely reach leaf undersides, twigs and other parts of the plant infested with scales.Do not apply within 30 days of a sulfur application; avoid applications on drought-stressed plants, windy days and temperatures are below 32F or above 90F. Follow the product label for detailed application instructions. We advise that you test out the solution on an inconspicuous part of the shrub before applying it more broadly.

  • Asked by Terry from San Luis Obispo Ca

    Q
Can I used both Monterey Horticultural Oil and Liqui-Cop for seasonal leaf curl on my peach tree?
How do I combine them. Do I treat separately or mix together. My concern is that Liqui Cop is undiluted and the Oil is 3 table spoons to a gallon. HELP!
    A

Monterey Horticultural Oil is not labeled for leaf curl therefore would not be able to advise on a mix rate for treatment.

Monterey Liqui-Cop is labeled for leaf curl on peaches at the rate of 4 - 6 tsp per gallon of water. Per the product label -  Apply as a dormant or delayed dormant spray to protect buds and shoots during rainy period. Reapply up until late bud swell. Do not apply at less than 7 day intervals. Do not apply after full bloom
