    Monterey Insect control

    By Darrell on 07/24/2016

I was recommended to this product by Pro-cure Nursery. It was the end of May and I was told, that to be effective it should be applied in March, before sap was rising, to be effective. I went ahead and applied to 5 mature pecan trees. In mid June the worms hit heavy. I watered heavy with my springlers and could the see leaves green up and grow darker. Leaving me to believe I was pulling the sap to all of the tree. The worms were very active for about 3 weeks, Since July ! I have not found a single live worm. They have completely dried up. (They look like sand burrs in a wad) I will for sure treat all trees in March nest year

    Monterey

    By Drucilla on 01/19/2015

    Verified Purchase

It was easy to mix and use. Not sure how the end results will pan out because it is a systemic application and it takes time for the plants to take in the product and the insects to die. I'm hopeful that it will work and I will continue to purchase this

Monterey Once a Year with Imidacloprid is a tree saver!

    By Kathy on 07/23/2019

Our apple trees have hundreds of holes in the bark. Looking up the problem on the internet, I suspected flat head and round head borers. Using the description, I pulled away the bark & found both kinds of borers and lots of frass. Not many products will kill these borers and still allow the fruit and nuts to be eaten. I have been using this product for 5 years and now buy it by the gallon because of all the different trees it can be used on.

For Monterey Insect Control, must the ground be bare or can this be used on grassy soil

I was told that this would only work on bare soil, otherwise just the plants would absorb the product and not the tree

Q
What should I do if Monterey Once a Year Insect Control II is not controlling scales on my Jasmine?

I have scales on my jasmine and I have used Monterey once a year in the past but this year its not working.

A

If you have already applied the Monterey Once a Year, and you are still seeing scale populations, then we would recommend pairing that treatment with a topical spray to knockdown the existing insects. Ferti-Lome Triple Action with 70% Neem Oil contains both pyrethrins and neem oil to suffocate and kill insects on leaf surfaces such as scale. Be sure to treat either in the morning or evening and to get thorough coverage of all leaf surfaces, especially the undersides of leaves.

If you are concerned about resistance to the imidacloprid because of years of use, then you could switch to a newer active ingredient, dinotefuran, which is found in Safari 20SG and Zylam.
