    Q
Will Monterey Once a year control kill bagworms on my arborvitae?
    A

Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II is not labeled for controlling bagworms. You will use 0.4-0.8 oz. of Permethrin SFR per gallon of water every 21 days as necessary for bagworm control.  Keep in mind that this needs to be applied before the bags have formed.  If the bags have already formed, there is little you can do for control other than to physically remove them.

    Q
Will Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II work for black gnats?
Infested with black gnats in house plants. Can I spray on the dirt in planters to kill?
    A

Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II is not labeled to control gnats.  The best option for gnats in houseplant soil is to allow the soil to dry out completely if possible as this will kill any larvae in the soil.  Otherwise you can drench the soil with something like Bifen I/T or Evergreen.

  • Asked by Diane from Gilbert, Az
    08/15/2019
    Q
Can Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II be used for pearl scale in Bermuda grass?
Can Monterey Once A Year kill pearl scale in bermuda grass? If so, what concentration of mix to water?
    A

As far as we know there are no known insecticides that will work on ground pearl. Ground pearl is a type of hearty armored scale, and other than natural enemies like ants, no true solution is available. The best solution to try is to reduce plant stress by following recommended fertilizing and irrigation recommendations to enable turfgrass to tolerate the damage. You may also want to contact your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations.
