  • Asked by Andrew from Dallas, Tx

    Q
Will Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder control spurge?
Is there a pre-emergent herbicide that can be used in a garden/flowerbed with edibles that will control spurge (spotted)?
    A

Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder is not specifically labeled for spotted spurge.Once the weeds have emerged, the main product used for weeds and grasses in an edible garden is a Roundup type product, like our RoundUp QuickPro product, or the all natural product Avenger.  These products do not leave a residual that could possibly be soaked up by the roots of your garden.  Of course you do not want to get the RoundUp or Avenger product on any plants you want to keep.  You should only direct it at the weeds you want to get rid of.

  • Asked by Fred from Portland
    04/15/2021
    Q
Can I plant green beans in a garden after using Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder?
    A

Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder is best applied to established plants only so not prior to seeding of plants.  Per the manufacturer:  The way to think about it is that it affects seed germination, and once the plants have emerged from the ground and are actively growing, it is safe to spray. So, let the beans come up and then spray over them and water into the soil. Or you can let your normal garden irrigation do that for you.

    Q
Can you use Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder on an herb garden?

  • Asked by Kathy from Mansfield,ga
    10/27/2021
    Q
Since I have to wait 4 months after an application before planting any seeds, will an application of Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder now be effective for weed control over the winter months in central Georgia with soil temps4 inches deep at 60 degrees F?
    A

Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder is more for when the plants have already been planted. This is because when you start planting you will usually till the ground, which would disturb the application. With that being said, you could apply now and get some winter control around established plants.
