ORNAMENTAL LAWNS AND TURF

Cool Season Grasses - such as Bluegrass, Fescue, and Rye: To kill Dandelion, Wild onion, Pennywort, Plantain, Healall and similar weeds: use 8 to 13 fluid ounces in 6 gallons of water and apply with pump or hose-end sprayer or sprinkling can to 2,500 square feet of lawn. For smaller areas - use 3 teaspoons in 2 quarts of water applied to 100 square feet.

To kill undesirable weeds such as Thistle, Bindweed, Dock and Ragweed, use 8 fluid ounces in 6 gallons of water (or 3 teaspoon in 2 quarts of water), and apply directly to plants, wetting them thoroughly.

To kill undesirable plants such as Poison ivy and Poison oak, use 2 fluid ounces in 1 quart of water and drench plants when they are fully leaved. Repeat in about 4 weeks if necessary. Certain hard-to-control weeds such as Poison ivy, Poison oak and English daisy may require a Fall application.

Warm Season Grasses - St. Augustine, Bahia, common Bermuda, Centipede, Zoysia, also for Bent: Use a one-half rate which is 4 to 6 1/2 ounces in 6 gallons of water to treat 2,500 square feet (3 teaspoons in 4 quarts of water applied to 200 square feet). Make two applications 30 days apart. Do not spray grasses if stressed from heat, drought, etc. Slight turf yellowing should disappear after about 1 week.

Note: Some hybrid Bermuda grasses may be sensitive to Weed Whacker.

For Spot Treatment: Put 3 teaspoons of Weed Whacker into an empty quart container with trigger sprayer. Then add 30 fluid ounces of tap water. Trigger Sprayer - Adjust spray nozzle to give coarse spray. Aim at center of weed and spray to wet. One application should be sufficient. Effects begin to show after a few days and weeds gradually die. A repeat application may be required in 4 weeks for hard-to-control weeds.

    Weed Whacker Works

    By Larry on 09/17/2016

Some stubborn weeds developed in my lawn that didn't seem to be affected by the off the shelf products. After doing some research it seemed that Weed Whacker would do the job and, after one application, more than half of the weeds are gone. I plan a second application. I've ordered from Do My Own Pest Control before. It is a great company to work with. They ship everything quickly and correctly. No problems!

Q
Can Monterey Weed Whacker be applied when the air temperature is between 40 and 50 degrees?

It's February in Southern Arkansas and I need to spray weeds now. The temp is running in the 40 and 50's during the day. Is this to cool to get a good kill on the weeds with a 2 gallon sprayer?

A

Monterey Weed Whacker is best applied in temperatures above 55 and below 90.  Something like Cool Power would be a better option in cooler temps.

Q
Can Monterey Weed Whacker be used in flower beds or will it kill the flowers?
A

Monterey Weed Whacker cannot be used in flower beds.  We do carry Fertilome Over the Top II Weed Killer that can be applied around flowers, bedding plants, ornamental groundcovers, trees, shrubs and listed edibles on the label.  Please check the product label to see if this will work for the weeds you need to control.

Can Weed Whacker be used on Floratam, Palmetto, St. Augustine in temps above 85 degrees?

Q
Can Monterey Weed Whacker be used in a hose-end sprayer? At what setting?
A

A hose end sprayer or sprinkling can is able to be used to when treating Cool Season Turf according to the product label for Monterey Weed Whacker. The setting would be based on the specific hose end sprayer you are using.

When treating Warm Season Turf, it is recommended to use a hand pump sprayer to apply Monterey Weed Whacker since hose end sprayers are more difficult to calibrate and the risk of turf injury is greater.
