    Q
i have a lot of bedbugs in my room. Can i use d mother earth to spray around my floor?
If cant apply on my floor what product would you recomend me? How would i apply the mother earth?
    A
MotherEarth D is labeled to be used on as a thin coat on carpeting. For the most effective treatment for Bed bugs we recommend using one of our Bed Bug Kits. Please take a few moments to read over our Bedbug Guide to get a general idea of what needs to be done. We also recommend that you encase all of your mattresses and boxsprings with Protecta Bed Encasements as mattresses and boxsprings can be very difficult to impossible to treat because of all of the seams, folds, cracks and crevices.

    Q
Is Diatomaceous Earth effective against camel back crickets in the basement?
    A

MotherEarth D - Diatomaceous Earth was labeled for crickets and could be used in cracks and crevices inside for insects including camel back crickets. The Mother Earth Granule Scatter Bait is still available and would be a great choice for camel back crickets around homes and in crawl spaces.

    Q
How do I get MotherEarth D - Diatomaceous Earth into my septic tank to kill a roach infestation?
    A

MotherEarth D - Diatomaceous Earth is not labeled to be applied to septic tanks for any reason. It is also not recommended for roach control.  Roach control requires a combination of a residual insecticide, a roach bait and an insect growth regulator (IGR) along with repeat applications every 10-14 days. Our Roach Control Kits are the most effective way to treat for roaches.  Please take a moment to review our Roach Treatment Guide to learn how to inspect, treat and prevent roaches in and around your home.

    Q
Is MotherEarth D a good product for roaches?
Can I apply this product without a duster?
    A
MotherEarth D is a good product for all insects, however it does not work as quickly as using other insecticide products.  For roaches, the best method is to bait.  This is because roaches can take the bait back into the walls where they hide and because they are attracted to the bait you have a better chance of effecting more roaches in a shorter period of time.  You should take a look at our Roach Control Kit #1 which has a very high success rate.  You can apply the MotherEarth D without a duster, but it is much more difficult to get the dust in cracks and crevices where you really need it.

Mother Earth will only be a repellent if you put out too much. Dust should be applied in a very thin layer.  If you can see the dust, you applied too much.

    Q
Will Mother Earth D eradicate Carpet Beetles (all varieties), fleas & other insects?
    A
MotherEarth D will certainly help get rid of just about any insect that comes in contact with a dry deposit of the dust, but the dust can take at least a week to kill an insect and in that time the insect can continue to eat and breed. We usually suggest using a faster working insecticide to get rid of an active infestation and using MotherEarth D as a supplement to keep the insects from invading again.

    Q
Would it be effective/advisable to mix diatomaceous earth with orthoboric acid to treat ants?
I have white-footed ants in my attic and I would like to dust the attic to help control or eradicate the colony. It seems that both orthoboric acid dust and diatomaceous earth are effective ant killers. Since they work differently, would you recommend making a 50/50 mixture of the dust and then using that mixture to dust the attic?
    A
It is not necessary to mix the dusts together. We would recommend using diatomaceous earth inside the wall voids and cracks and crevices if the white footed ants are there. If they are in soil, mulch and under items, we would recommend you treating the colony using Suspend SC. You will use 0.25 fl. oz.-0.75 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Suspend SC will provide a residual that lasts for up to 30 days. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Will MotherEarth D kill waterbugs in my basement?
I have big, (up to 2 inches long) dark brown bugs in my basement. They look like giant roaches. These are also in my yard and on my porch. They come out alot more at night. Can I use boric acid or Diatomaceous Earth to kill them?
    A
You did not indicate which product you were referring to but both diatomaceous earth and boric acid dust can be used to help get rid of the roaches indoors. Outdoors you should consider using a residual insecticide spray such as Cyper WP. Cyper WP is known to work very well for roach control and it offers a residual that can last for about 30 days outdoors and 90 days indoors. To help prevent roach infestations from moving indoors, apply to a band of soil and vegetation 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the house. Also, treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet where pests are active and spray door frame, window frames, places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure and other cracks and crevices.

  • Asked by Norwin from West Palm Beach

    Q
Can you spray an insecticide after you put Mother Earth D around a perimeter of a house?
    A

A dry dust like MotherEarth D is best used indoors in wall voids and cracks and crevices. Dust like this will not be effective once it gets wet, so you do not want to spray over the top of dust placements. Since this is a dry, powdery product, we recommend using sprays or granule baits for outdoor pest control rather than dust. Please let us know if you need assistance treating a particular pest or selecting another product.
