The high Chitin content of Neptune's Harvest Organic Crab Shell aids in fungus and nematode problems by promoting the growth of bacteria in the soil that eat Chitin. The chitin eating bacteria attacks the exoskeletons of nematode eggs and fungus (which are high in Chitin).

Apply in early spring as soon as soil can be worked. For perennial crops apply at the end of dormancy. Mix thoroughly with the soil or growing media, taking care not to apply in concentrated form directly to the roots. For trees and turf apply directly as a top dressing.
