Nuvan Prostrips are only effective for up to 4 months. Once that time period has passed, they will no longer be as effective as they were when they were first opened. We recommend changing them out every 4 months to make sure you are getting maximum performance out of the product. Please read the product label for further information.
You can place books in large trash bags or rubber tubs that have a top with Nuvan Prostrips. Nuvan Prostrips utilize controlled release technology to slowly diffuse a deep penetrating vapor in enclosed spaces. The clean, odorless vapor is evenly distributed throughout the enclosed treatment area, killing visible and hidden insects on contact and preventing new insect infestations. The books do not need to be tightly packed in the bins/trash bags. No, the vapors will not penetrate pages.
When treating for bed bugs on items with the Nuvan ProStrips the standard treatment time is 2 weeks minimum per the manufacturer but the product label gives information about it lasting 4 months for other pests. If it is a severe infestation some customers feel more comfortable leaving items sealed for longer
As Nuvan ProStripes are labeled to be treated for flies we do not recommend using in food handling areas such as kitchens, or in large open spaces where people make occupy for an extended amount of time. Nuvan ProStrips are most effective in confined spaces.
NuVan ProStrips do work in confined areas like small closets. You can leave them in there for 2 weeks to four months for the listed pests. Please let us know if you need anything else.
Nuvan ProStrips do work well to kill any insects including bedbugs within electronics or items you can't put in a dryer or treat with chemicals like shoes, books, etc. You would need to put the strip in with the item and leave it in an air tight container completely sealed for 2-4 weeks to kill anything within it. It will not harm anything you have in the container but the manufacturer does suggest if you have any leather clothing to keep the strip off the fabric directly and to lay it on something else within the container.
As long as the Nuvan ProStrips are sealed in a bag and not just sitting out in open living space, they are safe.
Yes, you can transfer the Nuvan Prostrips as they remain active for four months once it was been opened. However, you want to be sure the strips have adequate time to work for your particular treatment before possibly moving them to another area.
Yes, Nuvan ProStrips can be used inside of a sealed bag with nightstands inside. Be sure not to use this product in an open area that is frequently used by individuals. They need to stay sealed for at least seven days. It is safe to leave the sealed bags in a living room. Just be sure to make sure they are very secure. It would be fine to open closet or other enclosed areas where Nuvan ProStrips are applied for short periods of time.
No, Nuvan ProStrips should not be used in any living areas such as bedrooms or living rooms. Nuvan ProStrips also would not be effective against an encasement as the insecticide vapor needs room to move throughout the treatment area, such as hanging in a closed closet or in an airtight storage container. Be sure to use Nuvan ProStrips and other insecticides in accordance with the product label. For bed bugs or dust mites, you should be sure to use bed bug proof encasements, such as Mattress Safe Sofcover Ultimate Total Mattress Encasement and Box Spring Encasements. Nuvan Prostrips could potentially be used to treat a closet with so long as it is completely sealed up so the vapor cannot escape, and the closet stays sealed up for at least 2 weeks to give enough time for the vapor to penetrate the entire area. Most customers do not do this however as they need items from the closet, or they just wash and dry the clothes hanging like you would clothes in dressers, and then treat the crevices of the closet with a concentrate or dust. We normally recommend to use Nuvan Strips in small sealed areas or containers. Nuvan Strips work best on items that cannot be treated with liquids like electronics. There should be no problem using Nuvan ProStrips in a closet that has a water heater as long as the closet is completely sealed from any living areas such as a kitchen, living room, or bedroom. Depending on what pest you are treating, we may recommend a different product for your needs.
After treating clothes with the Nuvan ProStrips they should be washed and dried accordingly. This would be the same for any other items that can be washed. For anything that cannot be washed, you can just leave the product out for a few hours to air out.
