Pantry Patrol Pheromone Traps, Does not attract Flour Beetle
By Christy on 09/23/2014
I purchased the Pantry Patrol Pheromone Traps after reading some of the reviews and though the reviews stated they were working to capture pantry moths, the description for the product states they also work for beetles. I have flour beetles and have taken the measures of emptying all of my cabinets and cleaning them. I have also bagged all food so they will cease to breed. I still see them so went ahead and made this purchase. I placed the trap where I see them most often and after several days, no beetles are in the trap ;(. After a week, still no beetles are in the trap but they are still on here. I would NOT recommend this product for flour beetles as it does not appear to attract them.
Expert response:
While these traps are labeled for a variety of common stored product pests, it is possible that you have a species not specified for this pheromone. When using traps, it is important to identify exactly what type of pest you have. We would also recommend using a residual aerosol such as Cy-Kick Aerosol in the cracks and crevices and in any voids around the cabinets: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/cykick-aerosol-p-43.html
