To help prevent infestations of buildings, treat a band of soil 5 - 10 ft wide around and adjacent to the building. Also treat the building foundation to a height of 2 - 3 ft where pests are active and may find entrance. Treat other insect entry points such as doors, windows, under siding and eaves of structure. May be applied in compressed air, back-pack or power spray equipment. An application rate of 2 2/3 fl. oz. per 1,000 squar feet is desirable. Apply in a sufficient amount of water to adequately cover the area being treated, but avoiding dripping or run-off. Alternate directions are to use 10 - 20 fl. oz. per 50 gallons of water.
what is the mix rate for spraying Douglas Fur to kill Spruce Bud Worms with PERMACAP, and with Excite R.
According to the dilution chart for spraying on the PermaCap Label, you would mix 2 2/3 ounce per 1 gallon of water. You could mix this in the same gallon of water as the ExciteR which you would use at the rate of 1/2 ounce per gallon. Keep in mind that Spruce Bud Worms are not specifically listed ont the PermaCap label so we are not certain this product will work for your needs.
These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix PermaCap Cs and Talstar P together. Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and PermaCap CS already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation. If you want to make one of these products have a little extra oomph you can mix a natural pyrethrin with it such as Exciter. Exciter will give you a fast knockdown of pests that are present at the time of the application and the Talstar P or Permacap CS will give you a lasting residual.
What is best to use in open, concrete block barn with horses to control flying insects (flies, mosquitoes)
Barn is concrete block but very open in design. Could spray outside, inside stall walls & tops of walls and underside of roof/overhang. Would like to have residual effect, not just knockdown. Can remove horses until it dries, but horses definitely rub and touch walls. Thanks.
PermaCap CS is labeled for flies and will provide a lasting residual but a slower kill. We would also recommend the Maxforce Fly Spot Bait that kills flies in a minute or less in most cases. Maxforce Fly Spot Bait is labeled for use indoors and outdoors in commercial settings and outdoors for residential settings. Just one small spot of bait will last up to 6 weeks to provide indoors and 30 days outdoor control of pesky flies.
I need something strong to hose the yard down with to kill all these ants. Ants in the car, on the porch every where. Help.
Your best bet for controlling the Argentine ants by a lake would be to use ant baits placed in ant bait stations. Advance 375A Ant Bait Granules and Gourmet Liquid ant bait can be used in the Ant No More Bait Stations. By using two different kinds of bait at once you can be sure you are offering at least one bait that they will readily accept. The Ant No More bait station will help protect the baits from non-target animals, weather and will prevent the bait from entering the lake. Around your home you could apply Termidor. Please be aware of run off areas.
