    Q
How should I mix Permethrin SFR 36.8% to spray for ants?
    A

Yes, you can use Permethrin SFR to control ants in the lawn.  You will mix 0.4 to 0.8 fluid ounce 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet. Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control.  Dense or excessive (greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates.

  • Asked by April from Phoenix, Arizona
    03/17/2019
    Q
Is Permethrin SFR 36.8% safe to use in succulent pots?
I have a fungus gnat infestation. Thank you.
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for use on container plants so we cannot recommend it.  We would recommend something like Bifen IT instead which is known for being super gentle on plants and can be used as a soil drench.  The best option with fungus gnats though is to allow the soil to dry out completely as this will kill any larvae in it.

    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% can be applied to cattle. For treating flies/lice, you will apply 4 fl oz per 2 1/2 gallons of low pressure spray or 1/2 fl oz per ear for ear tick. It can also be applied at the rate of 4 oz per 25 gallon (treats 50-100 heads). For scabies, mange, lice and ticks you will wet the animal thoroughly and repeat applications in 10-14 days. For a backrubber/self oiler, you will add 4 fl oz to 10 gallons of diesel oil or suitable mineral oil. • Asked by Magdolna from Nh
    05/31/2019
    Q
I sprayed my yard 4 days ago with Permethrin SFR 36.8%, but I still have live ticks. Should I spray it again?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% should only be applied once every four weeks. It does take time for the product to work after applied. It would also be a good idea to incorporate an insect growth regulator (IGR) such as Archer IGR for complete control of ticks.  All of these products are pet safe if used as directed.  Pets need to be kept out of the area being treated during application and until everything is completely dry.

Please look over our Tick Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing this pest.

  • Asked by Ricardo from San Clemente, California, Usa
    09/22/2019
    Q
Can I use Permethrin SFR for head lice on humans?
    A

Permethrin SFR and any other permethrin product we carry are not for for head lice or use on people. If head lice has been found on a person in the home or in the bed/environment a physician and medicine/shampoos provided by them would need to be used to get rid of the lice. Vacuuming and washing sheets/clothing is all that is needed for the home to remove any that may have come off of the infested person.

  • Asked by Rene from Killeen Texas
    09/13/2011
    Q
Can this product, Permethrin SFR 36.8%, be used inside for chiggers?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for chiggers and may not provide adequate results for you. Onslaught insecticide is labeled for chiggers and can be used both indoors and outdoors as a broadcast spray. Chiggers are not known to infest structures. Chiggers are most likely outdoors in your yard. Many people are lead to believe that the infestation is indoors because they do not feel the effects of the chigger bites right away and then are lead to believe they are being bitten at a later time. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors. If you feel strongly that you are being bitten inside by something we would urge you to get a sample of the pest and have it professionally identified by an entomologist. You can find an entomologist in your area by contacting your local cooperative extension office.
