    Q
Can permethrin SFR 36.8%,diluted to 0.5% be used to treat cloths for tick control?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% cannot be used on clothing of any type. We do carry Tick Block which was specifically manufactured for use on clothing for tick control. While Tick Block and Permethrin SFR 36.8% share the same active ingredient the base ingredients are very different and the products are not interchangeable.

  • Asked by Robert from Blue Bell, Pa
    07/11/2012
    Q
How much Permethrin SFR do you add to a gallon of water for outside tick treatment on lawns?
    A
You should use the higher usage rate of Permethrin SFR for heavy infestations, faster knockdowns and longer lasting residuals and lower usage rates for maintenance sprays. You will need to use higher volumes of water to get the product over thick, dense vegetation. If you are treating your lawn for ticks we recommend you use the higher specified usage rate of 0.8 fl oz for 1,000 sq ft using whatever volume of water is needed. If you are treating up close to your home you are permitted to use the .5% emulsion (1 2/3 fl. oz. per gallon of water) per 1,000 sq ft as a perimeter treatment.

  • Asked by Jay from Pa
    07/24/2012
    Q
Does Permethrin SFR really use 6+ oz to 1 gallon a t 2% like the label states?
also is there any downfall to using the produst at it strongest?
    A
It really does take 6 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water to make the 2% dilution ratio of Permethrin SFR. For most applications however you will only need to use the .5% dilution (1 2/3 fl oz per gallon water) for general use. The higher rate is normally used in places where folks are doing a termite treatment but cannot use a large volume of water. What will you be using the product for?

  • Asked by Kurt from United States
    07/30/2012
    Q
Can I dilute your permethrin to treat (soak) my clothes like the Sawyer product?
Is there any reason I couldn't buy your 36% permethrin and dilute it to the same .5% that comes in OUtdoor clothing applications for use in treating clothing to repel mosquitos?
    A
You cannot use the Permethrin SFR on clothing at all. Even though the products contain the same active ingredients, the formulations are very different and most  of our permethrin products contain chemicals that are unsafe to have next to your skin. We do carry Tick Block which is an appropriate formulation for clothing.

  • Asked by Jay from Harrisburg, Pa
    04/30/2013
    Q
Is Permethrin SFR effective for outdoor for Mosquito control? Does it need an IGR like ExciteR with it?
Looking to spray small wooded section in back yard and 2 trees.
    A
Permethrin SFR is not labeled for general mosquito control so we do not recommend it for this use. We usually recommend using Talstar P for mosquito control and it can be used with an IGR such as Nyguard IGR to help sterilize the adults. (Exciter is a pyrethrum which causes a faster kill but it is not an IGR).

  • Asked by Scott from Saline, Mi
    05/07/2013
    Q
I already mix Talstar & Nyguard, can I add Permethrin SFR for added tick control?
    A
We would not recommend adding the Permethrin SFR to your mixture as it is a synthetic pyrethroid just like Talstar. If you are looking to have a little faster knock down you can add the product Kicker which will give you the quick control while the Talstar provides the longer residual. Keep in mind tick control takes time and several re treatments before the population will start to decline. The NyGuard IGR will give about a 4-5 month residual over the reproductive cycle but you can spray the Talstar every 14 days as needed to help knock back the population as well.
